I know everyone, myself included wants a DC and/or deleted scenes. That's not going to happen. Urgh.

Nothing has been announced, officially. Although there are plenty of speculations out there.

There was not A DC or deleted scenes for Batman Begins and the Dark Knight. So why should the Dark Knight Rises be any different?

Wasn't there a rumor that the DC will have more of Bane's origin?

If it is anything like the past Nolan Bat films the special features will be sparce. There isn't even an audio commentary on the others. And no documentary on design choices for The Joker with or without a memorial for heath ledger.

I was really disappointed with with the DVDs of the other Nolan Bat movies, maybe the BluRays are better but at the time I didn't have a BluRay player.

Nolan has sworn off the DC. The final vision is what you get. For some, that's rather unfortunate. I would have liked to see more of Bane, personally.

Bad news, Batfans. Last week we reported on a rumor that Christopher Nolan was planning on including a director’s cut of The Dark Knight Rises on the film’s Blu-ray with 30 extra minutes including an extended origin story for Bane. We cautioned readers to take the news with a grain of salt at the time; Nolan just doesn’t do director’s cuts and rarely even releases deleted scenes. Now it’s been confirmed that no such director’s cut exists or is planned for the home video release of the film, so the 165-minute cut of The Dark Knight Rises is the only version of the film we’re likely to ever see.

Hit the jump for more on the matter.

Bane-Dark-Knight-Rises-image-Tom-HardyThe folks over at The Playlist confirmed the non-existence of said director’s cut with Nolan’s reps, so this time the info is solid. The news isn’t exactly shocking, but it would have been nice to see what made the cutting room floor. Brendan noted earlier that Nolan was constrained by the limits of how much film can fit on the 70mm IMAX reels with The Dark Knight Rises (the film IMAX cuts ran without previews and with an abbreviated Warner Bros. logo just so the movie could fit), so there was likely at least some footage that Nolan discarded.

Costume designer Lindy Hemming previously described a Bane flashback that showed the character in a more primitive version of his mask chained up and being attacked by a group of people—likely in that prison hole. Alas, that’s unlikely to see the light of day, but were we really expecting Nolan to include some significant new footage on the Blu-ray that couldn’t be presented in the director’s preferred IMAX format?
http://collider.com/dark-knight-rise...rs-cut/194954/

Looks like it's a no-go. I bolded the part that caused people to speculate about a possible extended version.

In 20 years they'll release the footage. I remember throughout the '90s there was discussions of a deleted scene in Batman where the character rescues a little girl and she asks him if it's Halloween. And that footage was included in the 2005 DVD. Also, let's not forget all the "infamous" Batman Forever deleted scenes that were also included on the '05 release. WB just wants to sucker us into buying these films again sometime in the future.

The Begins DVD is good. TDK was halfassed in favor of the Blu Ray.

Here is the details posted via IGN.com:

Quote:

Warner Home Video has officially announced full specs and details for this release. The Blu-ray combo pack will include a 1080p transfer with 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio. The disc will include nearly an hour's worth of IMAX footage. According to the press release, Warner has crafted a "marriage of IMAX and 35mm formats by using the hybrid master to replicate the unique theatrical experience of integrated film formats."

The DVD will feature an anamorphic widescreen presentation (presumably sans the IMAX footage) and 5.1 Dolby Digital audio. The DVD will also include an UltraViolet copy of the film and "The Journey of Bruce Wayne" featurette.

Bonus features for the Blu-ray will include the following:

The Batmobile Documentary: Witness all five Batmobiles together for the first time in history. Dive deep into every aspect of the most awe-inspiring weapon in Batman's arsenal as you journey through the birth and evolution of this technological marvel and cultural icon.
Ending the Knight: A comprehensive look into how Director Christopher Nolan and his production team made "The Dark Knight Rises" the epic conclusion to the Dark Knight legend.
- The Prologue: High-Altitude Hijacking

- Return to the Batcave

- Beneath Gotham

- The Bat

- Batman vs Bane

- Armory Accepted

- Gameday Destruction

- Demolishing a City Street

- The Pit

- The Chant

- The War on Wall Street

- Race to the Reactor

- The Journey of Bruce Wayne

- Gotham's Reckoning

According to the press release: "Also available will be the free The Dark Knight Rises app for IOS 5.0 or higher compatible devices including iPhone and iPad, and Samsung Galaxy devices including S2, S3, Note, Nexus and Tab (operating system requirements vary by device). Building upon the already available "TDKR: Gotham City's Most Wanted" app, The Dark Knight Rises app will be updated in two phases. The first update, which will be available in late October, will include several interactive activities such as a photo application that will allow users to put themselves into a Tumbler, a video application that will allow users to insert a Tumbler into their personal videos, and more. The second update, which will be available on December 4, will integrate second screen functionality into the app. It will allow users to sync compatible mobile devices with the Blu-ray disc via BD-Live enabled Blu-ray players connected to the same Local Area Network to access exclusive bonus content. The bonus content will include film location information, Gotham City maps, film trivia, photo galleries and "making of" featurettes. In addition, the second screen app controls playback of the film on your TV via Blu-ray player. "The Dark Knight Rises" app will be available through the iTunes store and Google Play."

Warner Home Video has also announced The Dark Knight Trilogy Limited Edition Giftset, out Dec. 4 2012, which brings all three Christopher Nolan films together in one place. This set will also feature a collectible book that delves into the production of all three titles. Warner also promises yet another boxset, The Dark Knight Trilogy Ultimate Collector's Edition, to be released sometime in 2013. Perhaps it will contain this documentary:

Suggested retail for the Giftset is set at $52.99. The Dark Knight Rises Blu-ray combo pack SRP is set at $35.99, and $39.99 for the Limited Edition Bat Cowl set. The DVD SRP is $28.98.

It does look like those long-rumored deleted scenes will not be part of the set. Perhaps they're tucked away in the 17 featurettes, or they've be available via the Second Screen app. As always, stay tuned for more news as well as additional artwork and pre-order pricing.

I watched the movie again yesterday at my bargain theater. One thing, just one thing, I must have either forgotten about or didn't catch the first time stuck out and it brought down the movie from a B to a flat out C (possibly even C- in my book).

After the bomb goes off and people realize the city has been saved, Blake is looking over the bridge with his police badge in hand. He looks at the badge, looks into the distance, and tosses the badge over the bridge.

Nolan, how long have you been in showbusiness? At some point in your rise up the ladder you must have watched a cop movie or two. You have the end of your epic trilogy and decide to slide in a moment that is one of the most overused, cliched cop moves in cinema? Why? WHY? From Dirty Harry to Point Break, there must be a ton of police badges in these bodies of water near metropolitan areas. Almost as bad; Blake shooting the two guys at the construction site, looking at his gun in his hand then throwing it away. What is this, a high school student film?

OK OK, I won't knock the movie to a C but it's still really dumb.

Woah, you mean the director used a symbolic act to reveal character and plot in a visual medium?

Weird.

Cool sets, but I have no need for a Bat cowl, nor do I think the film is good enough to warrant a purchase--despite how fun it was.

I'm definitely buying it, but I'm opting for the regular Blu Ray packaging, instead of the cowl that'll need its own separate space.

Yeah, I never go for those collector things. Do I really need a Gollum statue or a Zombie bust with a screwdriver sticking through its eye in my living room somewhere? No.

Many studios have lost potential dollars from me because of stupid, clunky box sets.

The Iron Man and Dark Knight blu-ray cases were bad enough, the ones shaped like helmets so they don't fit quite right on my shelves.
