Seriously if you thought people didn't want another origing story, even more so there not gonna want a sequel to a mediocre move that no one wanted in the first place
You think they went to all this trouble of retreading the origin story to not make sequels? Obviously they're going to make more movies, and I fully expect those sequels to be better because instead of people comparing it to Raimi's films the whole time they'll be on a more stand-alone criteria. I don't know how you can say they blew it, the film received mostly positive reviews and there are certainly improvements to be highlighted here as well. People want to see "Iron Man 3" after how stupid and mediocre "Iron Man 2" was and yet there shouldn't be a sequel to a movie that actually got positive reviews? People on here sometimes when it comes to comic book movies are so dramatic, it's always do or die and nothing in-between. If you don't want to see the sequels then don't go see it, Hollywood is going to be making new Spider-Man and Batman films until we're all old and no one cares about the characters anymore. This won't be the last reboot of Spider-Man, just as "Batman Begins" won't be the last, you think Hollywood gives a **** about a whiny internet poster who only watches summer blockbusters? You're exactly the reason why these movies get made, because these are the only kinds of movies you tend to watch so the only person you can get mad at is yourself for having a narrow minded approach to cinema and only watching Hollywood blockbusters. I'm sick of people complaining about Hollywood when they're the ones going to see crap like "Transformers" and "Battleship", if you don't want Hollywood making these movies then don't support them. They make these braindead movies because they make them a buttload of money, so why would they stop?

My opinion Is go see this movie because its better then people say. Try going in open minded because its not Raimi's spider-man which I think is why I liked it.
This movie is a good kind of different

8/10
Romance? What romance? Very weak romance. This movie was a huge mess. It was okay, it had so much potential and they just didn't know what to do with everyone in the film.

I just wanted an entertaining Spider-Man film, one of my favourite characters growing up, and it just felt like a waste of $230 million. Anyways, it killed 3 hours while I wait for TDKR.

Hmm, well I liked it, not as much as others nor did I hate it as much as others. However, nobody should be scrutizing fandom for enjoying a simple interpretation of the character.

Transformers is better then this movie. I liked TAS fine but Transformers films are more fun to watch and summer was made for things to blow up. I don't hate this new version. Its just Ok not good or great but it can be more this new start.

Not every film has to be serious, you can have a good, fun, entertaining summer blockbuster type film. Thats what a Spiderman film should be anyways, its not Batman nor should it be, it should be like the first Transformers movie.

None of the Transformers films are better than The Amazing Spider-Man, that is absolute blasphemy. I don't care if you didn't like this movie, simply put, The Amazing Spider-Man is better.

They're about even. Both essentially have the same goals.

Transformers 3 is one of the worst movies I've seen in recent memory, if not the worst. I find it hard to believe TAS is anywhere near as bad.

I haven't seen Bayformers 3 but I'm told it is better than Bayformers 2.

The Transformers sequels are so bad that people have forgotten that the original is actually pretty good. So, I will say that the FIRST Transformers is better than Amazing Spider-Man.

The first Transformers isn't good, but I had a lot more fun with it than The Amazing Spider-Man.

TAS I like fine its just its not the funnest of movies to see. Transformers 1 is miles more entertaining then this. But then again Transformers 1 was such a favorite movie for me for a long time. Bay just can't make good sequels.
TAS Is not horrible by any stretch but there is just some movies that find more fun then others.

People are getting carried away here with the negativity, not surprising with this being the ComingSoon board. The Amazing Spider-Man had it's flaws, definitely, it didn't balance characters well, the CG will most likely be aged certainly soon, the best actors didn't have enough screen time, the beginning is a rehash of Raimi and the action was underwhelming. However, it is far more ambition, more approachable and more human than all three of Bay's Transformer films. I liked the first one, I really did. I hated the second one and I enjoyed the third one. The Amazing Spider-Man tried, at least to make an effort in creating dimensional characters, characters you cared about and took some chances(made Spider-Man more human, going with The Lizard, Gwen Stacy instead of Mary Jane) and that, THAT is why TASM is better, IN MY OPINION.

The Amazing Spider-Man was only made so Sony could hold the rights. It and Transformers have the same goal: market a brand and just be serviceable.

What is ambitious about The Amazing Spider-Man? I'm not saying Bay's first Transformers film was a tour-de-force or daring cinema, but it's no less ambitious then The Amazing Spider-Man. As saveus said, they both had the same goals and they're both equally soulless. But for me personally, I never gave a s*** about the Transformers, so I could somewhat enjoy the first one. Spider-Man on the other hand is a character I actually care about, so I expect a lot more.

And I also want to make clear, I don't think any of the Transformers films are good. I kind of enjoyed the first one in a guilty pleasure sort of way, but it has admittedly been a long time since I've seen it. I never saw the second one and I hated the third film (more than The Amazing Spider-Man).

The hatred is strong at SHH as well. To the point that there's "a war" between the Pro-Raimi and Anti-Raimi crowds. If anything, it's a lot worse there. At least here most of us can agree that ASM is a piece of s--t. There, you have insane fanboys who suddenly turned on Sam Raimi because Spider-Man 3 was less-than-stellar. So, don't be bashing CS. We're actually rational human beings over here. We can understand and accept that Spider-Man 3 was ruined by Sony's meddling. We never rooted for Sam Raimi's demise and then applauded a very obvious corporate reboot. We see ASM for what it is: corporate bull s--t.

Only some have deemed it a piece of crap. Not all. This is not as horrid as people are crying about and SHH opinions does not help or hurt your cause because most people there are insane. No offense meant for any former or current SHH who post here. But some there think a movie is bad based on the out fit a person wore in the movie not matching the comics clothes.

See the thing is, I don't even like this movie THAT much. I still prefer the Raimi films over because I think that was the Spider-Man I know well, but I can't help but be entertained by the movie, and it's potential. I enjoyed it, despite the flaws that were there. I could say the same thing for Transformers, but I felt like Spider-Man did more.
