![]() ![]() I'm surprised nobody's been talking about some of the games they've been showing so far? A lot of it we already know of, but some of these are titles that I've just found out about and the demos/gameplay look amazing. Other than the usual titles we already know is being released, does anyone else here have any interest in specific they'd like to post on? I've got all the necessary links below for anyone who hasn't been keeping up with it. Gamespot's Coverage; http://www.e3expo.com/ G4TV's Official Coverage; http://www.g4tv.com/

Saw the gameplay for Watch Dogs and im sold. Will be a buy once its out. Looked amazing. Also liked need for speed most wanted. Im a sucker for racing games. One of my fave types of games as well as shooters.
I hope they show more of Grand Theft Auto 5 and more details about it

I love the concept behind Watch Dogs a lot, as well as Beyond, so I'm definitely a 'go' for both!

Square Enix's tech demo:
VIDEO-CLick to Watch!:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UVX0OUO9ptU Almost looks too good to be true. If it's real, then it won't be out until the next-gen consoles. Then again Epic's next-gen Unreal Engine looks about the same level of quality, so it's not all that unbelievable. I believe we're behind by at least 5 years in terms of graphics technology, which is why I'm anxiously awaiting the next consoles to finally come out, so that we can finally move forward.

That tech demo was vastly impressive.
Watch Dogs is probably the only wowing thing of E3 this year. Pretty disappointed.

I've enjoyed a lot of the trailers released. Watch Dogs does look pretty amazing.
I'm sure next years E3 is going to be a huge event. I'm also hoping that once the next-gen consoles are on the slate for announcement, that Valve will go ahead and finally announce Half-Life 3.

I think everyone had to take a fall this year so next year could be what it needs to be. Sony and Microsoft are going to go hardcore, and I cannot wait for the technology we will be able to see.
In regards to next generation, the Wii U is so underwhelming. I have yet to be impressed.

I did agree with what people were saying though about the next Gears of War game. GoW3 ended on such a high note, that it'd only be smart to wait until the next-gen console to release a new one, that if this game (Judgement) is being released just to make them more money while they work on a next-gen one, or to just pass the time, fans would be extremely disappointed. Like what they did with Halo: ODST and Halo Wars just to pass the time until Halo: Reach was released. They flooded us with so many Halo games that it sort of killed the experience for us.

My thoughts after watching the press conferences:
Microsoft: These guys are so good a presentations that they were able to put together a pretty decent press conference even though they were very short on substance. Halo looks good, I'm excited about Splinter Cell, and both Tomb Raider and Resident Evil 4 have promise. It was also fun seeing Trey Parker and Matt Stone on stage. Still that's hardly an overwhelming lineup and making a half-assed Gear of War side-game looks really misguided (they might as well have called it Gears: ODST). "Smart glass" looks like it will be very useful... to people with ADHD. I was relieved that they didn't waste as much time talking about kinect as last year, but I still didn't need either Usher or Nike to have as much screentime as they did. The conference promised a decent enough year of gaming, but nothing to really be excited about. Electronic Arts: I've always liked EA's down to business style of press conference and they were true to form this year. Dead Space 3 looks neat, but the co-op thing worries me, that seems to contradict the basic tone and pacing of that series. I don't personally care that much about Sim City, but it was cool that they gave the old PC stalwart as much screentime as they did. Crysis 3 also looked like a game. What I didn't like at all about this press conference though it the amount of time they spent talking about updates for games that have already been released like SWTOR and Battlefield 3. Ubisoft: These ****ing people again. Ubisoft has made an annual tradition of putting together overlong and excruciating presentations filled with awkward stage banter. This year the presentation was a little better than in the past but what's really sad about it is that they actually did have some quality substance this year and the presentation almost killed it. Far Cry 3 still great in trailer form (*******!), Assassin's Creed looks amazing, and Watch_Dogs was a very pleasant surprise. Sony: Pretty much every year I finish E3 thinking Sony had the overall best conference but this year they were pretty hit or miss. It was very cool that they gave a headlining spot to Quantic Dream's Beyond and the teaser looked pretty cool (though I would have liked a better idea of the gameplay) and The Last of Us also looked awesome. Outside of those huge highlights things got pretty iffy. I'm not so excited about the new God of War (pretty much ditto what I said about "Gears: ODST"). Then they wasted a whole lot of time talking about that stupid Wonderbook thing and they're still talking about the Move for some inexplicable reason. Nintendo: Same old bull**** from these people, they needed to show that they'd turned over a new leaf and they failed miserably.

sim city looked terrible. have to be online all the time? no single player? can't save your city and come back later? why call it sim city then?

I know, I was surprised with that. That was seriously odd.

Rockstar said early on that they wouldn't be at E3 this year. If it's true what analysts believe (that GTAV will be out by the fall, or the very latest winter), then they probably decided to not take the time to develop a showcase and/or demo for E3, but rather continue to work on the game.
GTAV is going to be massive either way. I find it more odd that they didn't take the opportunity to show off Agent, which is a new IP.

Still. Something would've been better than absolutely nothing.

Rockstar hasn't been to an E3 since the Hot Coffee scandal.

Well, yes and no. Rockstar themselves usually don't venture out to E3. Their games continue to be announced or featured at the event, though.

Splinter Cell, Watch Dogs, (of course) AC III were all my favorites. The wonder book thing was interesting but not really my taste. Halo looked good (and I'm not a big Halo fan). Not a kinect fan either so can't say I was impressed with the new developments either way. Nintendo's new controller, while snazy, looks very impractical....And after seeing the Tomb Raider Demo, I have some renewed hope but the fact that they focused it on combat and navigation and not puzzle solving still makes me wary of the end result.
I like my puzzles. ![]() Over all, nothing earth shattering but most everyone had something intriguing to add.

Watch Dogs was definitely my favourite of the show. I think that will end up being special.
The Last of Us looks like a lot of fun as well. One note was that since I actually have a PC that can play up-to-date games now I looked at the PC stuff at E3 and it's funny that most of it was just games that were on consoles too. I know there will be tons of fun games on PC this year but it's a pretty sad E3 showing. All in all, a decent E3. |

Epic's UE4 particle and elemental tech demo + part of the developer walkthrough spliced into the middle:
VIDEO-CLick to Watch!:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5wgDE9LEwRE&=hd Might get taken down though. What I've heard is that Epic has seen/used both Microsoft and Sony's next-gen hardware, and are currently lobbying for them to increase the power of the systems.
