I'm tearing through these at work, just watched the episode about how one should never invite an ex to the wedding, and am now on the episode after it where they spend half of it under the dinner table.

Still enjoying this, though I was rather disappointed Barney let his manwhore ways seep into the group.

Each season there's always one episode that is amazing:

Season 1 - Barney's Origin Story
Season 2 - Robin Sparkles
Season 3 - The Belt
Season 4 - The Naked Man

If they could pull off more than one, this show would be Internet famous instead of just having mainstream success.

I think its a bit more then 1 great per season, but if its too good, then people will stop watching it.. at least shows I think are great all the time are rarely mainstream.

Each season has its share of great episodes, but from what I've seen, there's only one "amazing" episode each season. In other words, instant classics.

I agree with carnage, there are more than one "amazing" one per season. Looking through the season 4 list you must have seen "The Best Burger in New York" already. Have you seen "The Stinsons" yet?

I guess it depends on your definition of amazing. It's a great show, but you seem to be complaining it isn't the best show ever.

And looking through the Season 3 list, there's "The Platnium Rule" which has a good example of great storytelling I was talking about with stories inside of stories inside of stories.

And of course there's "Slapsgiving."

Let's look at it in Seinfeld terms. The Chinese Restaurant episode is pretty good, maybe even great. But, "The Contest" episode is amazing. You see what I'm getting at? There's episodes that are great and ones that are instant classics. HIMYM has one instant classic per season. That's not a complain, just an observation.

I'd say they do 2-3 amazing episodes a season. Most are their concept episodes, like the ones mentioned. I'd also like to throw in The Perfect Week and the one I believe is called The Book.

Season 5 had two. And season 6 has had two so far. For season 5, I loved The Playbook and the one where Barney gives up suits as a bet. It ends with a big musical number. If I'm not mistaken, it was the 100th episode.

Right now, I'm halfway through season 6. So far, the stand-outs have been "Robin Sparkles, part 3: Space Teens" and Marshall playing match-maker from his childhood bedroom. Although, I gotta admit that the ones with Marshall's dad passing away were great episodes.

Anyway, I'm loving the inclusion of Jennifer Morrison. She's, by far, the best Ted girlfriend. Morrison is just... amazing. Now I feel like watching Once Upon a Time. LOL.

It's lost its flare, I dunno. Also, ever since they got picked up for 2 seasons, they halted the "mother" storyline.

Season 6 already told us how he met his wife. He meets her at Barney's wedding to the British girl. The only thing missing is her identity. Also, I read that season 8 will likely be the last one. So, we'll probably get an answer within the next year.

Yeah, somethign happened in last week's episode that would have me agree with that.

But that Barney wedding thing was there because it was the premiere. Tell me if anything shows up in the rest of the season (besides the one I just mentioned)

Just watched the "Homewreckers" episode: weakest one of the series yet.

I also think Ted and Robin will end up together, and the kids aren't Ted's kids. He doesn't ever say their mother is his wife. Just a theory.

I hate the guy Robin is dating now, Don.
