I know but i was thinking about the lame GI Joe 2 move again. I think people will get tired of 3D and to be honest there have been quite a few flops with films on 3D. I think Avengers was just a good movie and Battleship wasn't.

I think GI JOe 2 was screened and was a bad movie and they desided to do some reshoots to fix some things and the whole 3D thing was a cover story.

http://www.deadline.com/2012/06/the-...t-tally-kagan/
Only two of eight major movies released last month are clearly destined to make a profit — and one of them is, surprise!, Marvel’s The Avengers — according to SNL Kagan’s latest monthly tally. The firm says that The Avengers is likely to generate more than $2B in revenues from all sources (excluding merchandise sales) on total costs of $473.2M. The 4.24 ratio of expected revenues over costs is well above the 1.75 threshold that Kagan says establishes a film as clearly profitable. To account for revenue splits, expenses and variables that analysts can’t determine, the firm classifies films with a ratio of less than 1.75 but more than 1.40 as being in a gray area while those below 1.40 are deemed probably unprofitable. By that measure, Fox Searchlight’s The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel fared well, with a ratio of 2.60 ($169.6M in revenues on $65.2M in costs). Columbia’s Men In Black 3 is on the bubble with 1.53 ($687.2M over $450.0M). Films likely to spill red ink include include Universal’s Battleship ($450M over $401.8M), Paramount’s The Dictator ($171.6M over $176.1M), Warner Bros’ Dark Shadows ($279.3M over $293.4M), Warner Bros’ Chernobyl Diaries ($59.4M over $87.4M), and Lionsgate’s What To Expect When You’re Expecting ($66.8M over $121.5M).

Not sure why people are surprised that only of the few project were going to be big money. People were hailing this to be a big movie year, and really most of the films have made belly flops.
Avengers being big should not be a shock when you have that many stars in a film. TDKR, The Amazing Spider-Man , Prometheus, Skyfall, The Expendables 2, Hunger Games, The Hobbit and yes Twilights final head ache. These were pretty much I feel the expected years successes. Although Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter and Snow White and The Huntsmen could be sleepers. Depending how far SWATH falls this week. Brave looks like a good Pixar gem too I guess. Lets face it. If not for HG and Avengers the film year thus far would have stunk. |

June is what May failed to be: a success. Last week, Snow White opened to big numbers, and now, two new films are doing the same. Prometheus, despite its R rating, is on track to gross over $25 million today. An opening weekend of over $60 million is expected. Madagascar 3 with its annoying Afro Circus is a hit with family audiences. Its projected Friday gross is $20 million. It's also expected to have an opening weekend gross in the $60 million range.

I don't think Snow White needs a sequel really even if does make the money back which doesn't look like it will make more then 130 million domestically. Does anyone know why this seems to being released so much slower over seas then other movies.

Avengers is only $9 million away from surpassing Dark Knight's adjusted gross. Any thoughts, comments, or concerns?

I'm not entirely convinced that The Avengers is going to break the $600 million domestic mark without a re-release. Their weekly total has been dropping by 50% every week for a while now, and last week they were at $8.9 million. The domestic theaters will keep Earth's Mightiest Heroes for one more week, but then it's Amazing Spider-Time. It might happen, but if so it's going to be close.

Wyldstaar,
Without a doubt The Avengers will pass 600 million, and probably by the end of weekend after next. True it only grossed 8.9 last weekend, but that was only about a 21% drop from the previous weekend. Also, after another 1.1 million Monday it's about at 588, and for the rest of the weekday's say it pushes it up to 590(which it could even be up over that), but 2 million more Tuesday-Thursday is a fair estimation. Anyway with only a 25% drop this upcoming weekend (and it could be less of a drop), but that's a fair number to throw out, it would bring in 6.7 million roughly. That's putting it right on the doorstep of 597 by this Sunday. Then let's say a moderate 2 more million during weekday showings next week that puts it at 599 right there(by this point it could already be over 600). If it is shy going into the weekend after next it will easily pull in what's necessary to push it past 600. |

At this point, nothing will surprise me. All I know is, Avengers only has two more weeks before Amazing Spider-Man takes away the remaining audience.

"Spider-Man" Reboot On Track For $125M?
Though it's arguably the least anticipated of the three big superhero films of this Summer, that doesn't mean "The Amazing Spider-Man" won't make a small fortune in its own right. The Hollywood Reporter says that early tracking figures indicate the superhero reboot is tracking to earn $125 million in its first six days from Tuesday July 3rd through to Sunday July 8th. The figures would make it easily the best performing film of the Summer outside of "The Avengers", and are on par with that of the first "Iron Man" film. Comparatively in their first six days of release the first "Spider-Man" earned $144M, "Spider-Man 2" took $180M, "Spider-Man 3" scored $176M. In comparison with other superhero movies, "X-Men First Class" scored $70M, "Batman Begins" took $80M, "Thor" took $81M, "Iron Man" scored $121M, "Iron Man 2" got $153M, "The Dark Knight" raked in $222M, and "The Avengers" scored $258M. The film is tracking strongly with males of all ages, but is also performing well with young females due to its young stars Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone. The figures come following a half-dozen early print reviews from the UK (now up on Rotten Tomatoes) which paint a generally positive reaction. Time Out claims "We're never far from romance or laughs, and at times 'The Amazing Spider-Man' feels like a romcom upgraded to include 3D and industrial cobwebs", while The Guardian says "Webb successfully treads a fine line between keeping the hardcore superhero-movie fans happy and injecting a dose of meaningful affect."

The constant promotions by ESPN and ABC during major sporting events will definitely help.

I can't remember a summer when there was as many blockbuster type films being released, it started with The Avengers. Then MIB III, Prometheus, The Amazing Spiderman, The Dark Knight Rises, The Bourne Legacy.
