Default Battlestar Galactica

I searched the forums and could not find a review thread. If I overlooked it, I apologize.

Anyway, I just saw the miniseries last night (which kick off season 1, apparently) and am now getting into the regular length episodes.

What should I expect? The miniseries was absolutely amazing, loved it so so much and can't wait to dive in deeper.

Thoughts? Feedback? Does everyone love this show? Does the ending deliver?

No spoilers, please.

There's actually a Battlestar Galactica thread. I guess you overlooked it. Well, Battlestar Galactica starts out really strong. Like yourself, I was instantly hooked onto the show the moment I started watching it. This is a show with characters that you care about, despite the fact that they are all incredibly flawed. Every single one of the characters are going to be something incredibly dumb and stupid at some point in the series that it truly tests your affinity with them. Characterization has always been the most important factor of any TV show, aside from a strong script of course. Battlestar Galactica, for the most part, delivers on both counts.

My problem with the show, however, started some time in the middle of season 3, I believe. You see, aside from the science fiction stuff, there are also a lot of mythical stuff going on. You will see two very distinct camps in the show arguing about fate, faith and all that kinda stuff. Science Vs Faith, basically. My problem stems from the "faith" part, and how the show relied heavily on it to explain a lot of its plot. Without spoiling anything for you, let's just say that aspects of the ending felt a little "deus ex machina", if you ask me. I was furious when the ending came along, to be honest. Now that I think about it, while I still don't like how the series ended up as, it's still way better than some of the finales that we've been fed as of late (I'm looking at you, LOST).

A lot of people will disagree with me and fight for Battlestar Galactica till the very end. I suppose I stand alone in my opinions but, to be honest, all those mythical stuff overwhelmed the story for me.

Also, what is up the excessive use of the word "frack?" I hate it. "Frackin frack frack frack frack."

Better get used to it. They love using it and they'll continue to use it in cringe-inducing moments as it became more popular in pop culture.

Make sure to watch extended versions of each episode if they're available (like "Daybreak", the series finale, which is better than the originally aired version. Razor and The Plan also have extended/uncut versions). I personally love the finale and think it works and fits perfectly for what they were doing for the last season. The final season gets extremely dark but it works really well. It's probably my favorite show from the last decade. You can pretty much read all of the forum member's feelings who've seen the show here:

Ha, I actually just finished watching this series like 2 weeks ago. I was going to bump the old thread to coment on the finale, but I figured no one would care about what I had to say so long after the original airing.

I'm kind of with Psykooo though. I really liked the first 2 and a half seasons, but somewhere in the third it just kind of goes downhill. I stopped caring as much, and it coule have been because of the same reasons that were mentioned, but I think it just kind of lost it's flare.

I'll be interested to hear what you have to say as you continue to watch though.

I just finished the episode where they attack the meteor with the Cylon base and get fuel. So far I love it and am interested to see where it goes.

Plenty. And they have since admitted that they made it up at the time, so don't bother trying to guess beforehand.

Honestly, if you want to get the full effect of the show... stop posting about it. Not being rude, I swear. It's just, you need to sit back and watch the show from start to finish. Don't ask what happens or if there's any more surprises and such, because there are more and they are plentiful. It's a truly great series in my opinion and it had a great conclusion. Just be patient, be mindful and watch.

That's about the best advice I can offer right now.

Fixed indeed.

Although, I didn't want to just say it. I wanted him to arrive at that decision on his own.

Wrong show fool.

Jack Bauer was a Cylon. John Locke was the Harbinger of Death, remember?

So I just finished Season 2 with the giant twist/cliffhanger. Holy cow. I was starting to have my interest waned in the last handful of episodes, especially since cylon Sharon pisses me off so much, lol, and I hate Kara for marrying that pyramid player. Otherwise, this is good space action/drama that reminds me a LITTLE BIT of my love for ST:TNG. Love Adama as well as the chief. I liked Baltar, but now I want to see him get punched in the face repeatedly.

I just finished Episode 1 of the 3rd season. I don't think I'll ever be able to watch Quantum Leap and like Al ever again. This is pissing me off. I hope these cylons all get punched in the face repeatedly.

That's pretty much all the finale is. Its just cylons being punched in the face over and over.

Just finished the boxing match episode. zzzzzzzzz. Back story on the Starbuck/Adama issue was ok, but not worth all that filler boxing crap.

5 unknown cylons?
There aren't that many characters to choose from. I figure it would be safe to say it would be Tigh, his wife, the black girl, Gaeta, and ..... hmmm ..... maybe the captain's wife? Or maybe the captain himself? That would be an interesting twist.

Tigh's wife = Ellen

Black Girl = Anastasia Dualla

I am about to start the two-part season 3 finale.

So ... Kara died. I suspect I would have cared a lot more if this happened in season 2, but she became an extremely unlikable character, to me. She was taken prisoner and broken, I get that, but her character changed, she was being unfaithful (a pet peeve of mine in movies/shows), and I just stopped liking her like I used to earlier on. I can't really explain it...

At any rate, she passed, I wasn't all that moved by it as much as I was Admiral Adama's reaction when he told his son how much it affected it.

I hope Baltar doesn't escape punishment. I know he has been more of a pawn than anything, but his actions and refusal to accept responsibility or just come clean have really been irking me throughout the series. I also went from really liking him to now flat-out disliking him. I shall see how the next two episodes unravel ...

Holy frack.

So Kara is back just like that, screaming "WE'RE GOING THE WRONG WAYYYY" I'm glad they stuck her in a ship and sent her off.

Not too surprised about Chief and Tigh being a cylon, though the president's aide and Kara's husband were a surprise. I am pissed about the aide killing Callie. I want her to burn slowly for that one. I loved Callie so much, so so much. The worst death on the show for me, personally.

Interesting to see the cylons turning on each other, though I'd been hoping for that for some time.

I hated that All Along the Watchtower was used when the Cylons were "activated". It doesn't even make any sense.
