We will definitely see Black Widow, although I wouldn't be surprised if we see Maria Hill as well.

Funny you act like you already read the script. The only thing thats definite is what the officials say and so far nobody (as far as I know) has OFFICIALLY confirmed that Natasha is going to be in this. Least of all ScaJo

Black Widow has not been confirmed to be in it. When a reporter asked Scarlett about it though, she said something like, "I haven't been asked yet," rather than that she was definitively not in it. So there's still a possibility. I bet Scarlett will be in Captain America 2 though since that movie is supposed to function like a S.H.I.E.L.D. movie.

I have to fully agree with what Tornado said here. Besides Natashas assignment with Tony is over and as you can see in the Furys big wee comic series (a prelude for the Avengers film that connects all the films more closely and shows things that happened during the films but that we didnt see onscreen and Natasha was heavily involved in them) she is on various different assignments from being undercover at Stark Industries to sabotaging Ross´plans to get the Hulk and taking down Samuel Stern.

I can also imagine her better in a Cap movie. I think she could even become a love interest for him like in the Ultimate comics and animated films. Then again maybe Whedon already planted the seeds for a Natasha/Clint relationship (In the 616 comics -the main Marvel universe- Hawkeye was in love with her once , which actually was a big reason that Natasha defected from the soviet union and joined SHIELD).

maybe they do a Black Widow/Hawkeye movie. that would be cool to explore these two characters. That movie could also introduce Mockingbird (Hawkeyes wife in the comics). ah so many possibilities....

I think if they don't bring in the niece of Peggy Carter my guess is maybe movie wise we could get a Maria Hill and Cap romance. I'd Like to see Black Widow in Iron Man 3 just because in the comic and i am sure of this because read it recently that Black Widow and Tony Stark have this thing kinda while she has this Hawkeye thing Stark and her have history as well.
Movie wise I don't want Iron Man and Pepper messed up so I'd be ok with no Black Widow as well.
I am fine either way they go here but i still Like to see that Shield is keeping an eye on Stark somewhat. And Widow i think makes the most since. Unless they assign Maria who seems to loath Stark but kinda had stars in her eyes for Cap.
I am making no since because I am not sure which is the better idea. No shield at all or some shield. Its just gonna be odd without Coulson in Iron Man 3.

SHIELD doesnt have to keep their eyes on the Avengers anymore. the end of Avengers made pretty clear that these characters are not under surveillance anymore but like in the comics are now a team for SHIELD.

Hmm yeah I knew Natasha (why is no one here calling her ever by her real name?) and Tony had a thing in the Ultimate comics but they didnt in the 616 comics as far as I know. In 616 Natasha was with Clint and Matt Murdock for certain periods of time I think.

And after Avengers it makes no sense anymore to "assign" Natasha to Tony since they are team mates now. They are all friends now really who trust each other and Fury has learned his lessons at the end of Avengers. So I heavily doubt there will be SHIELD surveillance going on. Besides I repeat: Feige said in IM3 Tony will be cut off from everyone else and be totally on his own. No SHIELD, no Avengers, no Pepper. Just Tony on his own like in the beginning of the first film.

Coulson...the most overrated character in the MCU. I dont know why suddenbly everyone makes such a big deal about him. He was in the IM films where he just annoyed Tony. He was in Thor where he annoyed Jane and Thor. Nobody really liked him and suddenly after he dies in Avengers he is such a big and important character ? I just dont get it. His death didnt really touch me or move me or anything. He didnt have an emotional connectiont to any of the characters in the previous films. he was just the representative of SHIELD ,an agent working for Fury who has been mostly annoying the heroes. I dont think its odd at all if he wont be in future films since he never really was an essential part of them anyway (maybe except in Avengers). never really cared much for that character. he was totally replaceable at any time.

Didn't Black Widow have an affair with Tony Stark somewhere or was that Elektra. I seem to recall a bio where one of them sleeps with Stark. Anyways I like for Natasha to stay or least someone from Shield. My money says it will Be Maria Hill because heard she was getting a multi picture contract.
Which would likely include shield moments in Thor and likely Cap 2.
I say stick with what built up to Avengers. I think having cameos and characters crossing into the others film is very good thing to continue.

Yeah I too want that the movies retain the connections with each other in the MCU with the subplots , cameos etc. But it shouldnt be just a repeat of what was done before Avengers but something new and the next step in the story. Feige said that Avengers was the conclusion of phase 1. Now phase 2 begins so it has to move forward and be something new. I just think there shouldnt be any more of SHIELD monitoring that team or spying on its members. Its inappropriate now.

Like Whedon said "It should be the next thing that happens to these characters not a rehash of what worked before. A new theme thats fresh and totally organic to itself"

Well in IM3 there wont be any cameos of Avengers characters since the whole idea of IM3 is to isolate Tony from that Avengers world and they also focus on doing the Extremis story. SHIELD might have a appearance in the end though. Or there might be a few scenes between Tony and Fury. And I am sure that Avengers-related stuff will be mentioned but for the most part Tony is going to be on his own in this one.

Maybe there will be more Avengers-related cameos etc. in Thor 2. Thats going to be a cool movie too, seeing what happens with Loki and the Tesseract now in Asgard and how the relationship between Thor and Jane continues (will he take her to Asgard?).

I think the movie with most direct connections to Avengers and SHIELD will be Cap 2 because Feige said this movie will be the closest follow up to Avengers because unlike Tony and Thor and Banner Cap cant go home. SHIELD is his home now, so he is directly in that world.

I guess we can do nothing but wait for more concrete info. All we can do is speculate now and in most cases speculation proves to be wrong anyway.

They can use War Machine more in Iron Man 3 who could be in Avengers 2. or maybe they introduce a new character here that will be an Avenger later.
Hawkeye and Black Widow were introduced movie wise in Iron Man 2 and Thor.

I am sorry I didn't know you were writing the script for Iron Man 3. You can have a brief introduction to a new Avengers character if not in Iron Man then in Cap 2 or Thor 2.

You don't know that there couldn't be a cameo of another Avenger or something. All The Iron Man films has some connection to Shield and Fury could come to him to either build Vision or check out a new member for The Avengers project.

Granted they did that with Clint in Thor but that was more of a gag because they knew he would be in Avengers. IM3 will have connections to Shield and Fury, I am sure of that.
