Techincally its biowares loss because I'm done buying games from them. This is just another game that shows they dont know how to end a story, and thats important to me.

The new ending(s) were released this week sometime. If they would have put this in the game when it shipped there would not have been as much backlash as there was. It actually explained everything and there was a good ending too (probably to make more money through DLC).
There was atleast 1 thing I didn't like about the "star child" (won't spoil it) but just thought it was kinda tacky and that you should have been able to do something about it. Quote:
yeah when they make mass effect 4 (not a spoiler) I'm going to be very leery of if I'm going to buy it or not. I will probably rent it from gamefly. |

I'm usually in the loop on EVERYTHING Mass Effect... yet I didn't even bother to check when this DLC was being released. Are you sure it's out?

if you played through out the series you should check it out. It still leaves some questions open and it's a little flawed but it's alot better than what we got before. |

I got home late last night but wanted to be done with this, so I finally beat the whole damn game and took to the internet/YouTube to watch all the extended/"alternative" endings
Thoughts: Multiplayer - 1) I kept "buying" the same damn character upgrades over and over with the points I earned. Once you buy an upgrade, it should not allow you to purchase it again. I think it would take months to acquire all the upgrades for guns. I just barely got the Widow in multiplayer yesterday, and I am at a ridiculous level. 2) I read somewhere that Vanguards overpower everyone and wipe the mat when it comes to points. Incorrect. I was an Engineer, and I maxed out my drone and overload powers. I set my drone to maximum damage, and the final option I chose was the missiles option. I don't remember all the upgrades to Overload, but I know I chose to have it chain so when it hit one enemy, it did 60% damage to a nearby enemy. 3) I used only the standard assault rifle in combat with the upgrades I had available to me. This insured 200% power recharge which was necessary for the way I did combat with my drone and Overload. What did this mean? This means I learned the strategic places to place/leave my drone (each level has an ideal "spot" for the drone), and it inflicted massive damage on enemies. While the Drone was doing its thing on the battle field, I could hit enemies with Overload, and finish off the little life or unshielded life they had with some shots from my assault rifle (the bigger baddies obviously require more punishment). I kid you not, I have never been second to anyone in points since reaching level 20. On a bad game, I finish with 5,000 points more than second place. In good games, I finish with 20,000+ points than second place. 4) Who you play with. I'm at the point where everyone in bronze levels can die, and I can hold my old. Silver? Not so much. Silver requires team work, e.g. people staying alive, covering the person who is uploading data when those rounds happening, and people being generous by unloading their missiles on Banshees. If I didn't finish a silver campaign all the way through, it was because I was playing with n00bs or people so bent on getting the most kills that they didn't care about the objectives (which ends the mission if you don't achieve them, dummies). I don't die much in multiplayer, but I was surprised by how inconsistent people were about reviving you. Campaign So, I thought I would be the guy coming on the boards and the rest of the internet saying "you guys are being crotchety, the ending was fine." Wrong. This video says it best: VIDEO-CLick to Watch!:
Basically, nothing you do matters. 1) I did all the side missions, no DLC. I had ~6,200 points in war assets along with 100% galactic readiness. If you choose the resist option and shoot the Starchild to take your chances with fighting the Reapers, you get wiped out. Pitiful. There is no CGI footage of the people you amassed fighting, or any conclusion showing how your victory (yes, victory as we ****ing earned and deserved) affected those people. 2) I was a complete paragon except when I headbutt the news reporter, pushed that one guard off the tower in the second game, stabbed the baddie commander with an electric prod in the second game (the mission where you reunite with Garrus and fight the helicopter), shot Udina, and killed Kang. In the end, it didn't matter. Apparently, being paragon or renegade only affected if you had red scars on your face or not. There is no other significance to the choices you make. Zero. 3) Romance. At some point in the first game, I didn't realize I was making a definitive decision to choose either Ashley or Liara. I chose Ashley, and that was that. Although she was a bit of a xenophobic alien hater, I still thought she was the best choice, especially since Liara seemed very childlike to me. I had a hard time sacrificing Kaiden, but I felt I owed it to Ashley to save her since I romanced her. In the second game, Ashley is basically nowhere to be seen, so I romanced Miranda. I wasn't too happy with the fact that she played hard to get the whole time until she rode you until her head fell off in engineering. It was a fun tryst, sure, but not the makings of a longterm committed relationship. In game three, I went back to Ashley, and resisted the options I was given to bed the reporter onboard, Traynor, or the other women. I stayed true to Ashley, and ended up telling her I loved her and bedding her in the end. Did it matter? No. One of the endings left me with the impression that she is now going to have to **** Joker to populate this remote planet the Normandy somehow ends up on. **** Seth Green. But, yeah, that video I posted? Every question I had he addresses and has the same issues with. I feel the same way about ME3 that I did when Lost ended. I don't want to have questions. I don't want to have to "figure things out." I don't want to assume how things went with the different races (that is, if they didn't all starve to death whilst stranded in the Earth sector). I want definitive answers provided to me that are the direct result of the choices I made. "You made all these choices in the game, we don't know what to do with the choices we provided you with: here, have the same ending as the other guy who played the game completely different from you."

So I loaded my saved file for the finale group of battles last night and played through it (the ending chapter twice to see the different endings before I got bored and gave up.) Anyway, from the assault on the Cerberus Headquarters to just before the final push to the beam that takes Shepard to the Citadel is amazing. I missed playing those missions and remembered just how much fun I had with them. Unfortunately the ending is more or less the same, with certain new cutscenes and options being put forth here. This time around instead of the massive Ally-Ship-Loses during the final cutscene, we see everyone bug out from the fight and jump away just in time (including Joker and the Normandy, which at least gives us an explanation as to why they ended up where they did.) Oh, and the Relays aren't destroyed this time around, neither is the Citadel. They're only heavily damanged and are shown being repaired in the end. There are also what appears to be tacky comic book graphic scenes depicting the surviving characters in different locations as to give us some lame half-assed look into their futures.
Other than what I just said, Daniel's post still stands. With the money we paid for these games and the time and effort put into creating our characters, evolving them into the people they were now, gathering allies, gathering armies, preparing for war, I think that we were let down on a monumental level here. While this DLC doesn't leave as bad a taste in my mouth (or on my mind) as the original ending did, it still leaves a bad taste in general. I don't think I've ever felt this strongly about a video game before. Shows you just how amazing a story this was...

What, is there another new extended ending out? Is it free?
I also really liked the Cerberus and Earth missions. I actually had to scale the difficulty back on the Earth missions because 4 Banshees, Marauders, Harbinger firing lasers, and the other reaper creatures were too much for me and my team. I ran out of medi gel for the first time in the game. It was a lot of fun, though, and I enjoyed the challenge. As for this new ending: the mass effect relays not being destroyed changes everything, but, I want to see cut scenes and footage of Shepherd and the various races, then him with his loved ones and crew. I made a lot of choices in the game, I want them to matter. And simply providing additional crap months after the game was released doesn't change the fact that someone working for this game screwed the players/fans. It's the principle of the matter, and it also sounds like they tied up a few loose ends, but, not the ones that mattered (I wasn't overly concerned about how the Normandy ended up flying away from a beam outside of the battle, to be honest).

Here, read this page, it gives you the entire rundown on the new endings;
http://masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Mas...:_Extended_Cut Anyway, what gets me the most is the fact that they were able to create one of the best sci-fi game universes ever made. It rivals even the Halo-Verse, which in my opinion is undefeatabe. But they made it so and that to me does not make sense, because you can't put that much emotion, time and years into something like that only to give us a piss-poor ending. Somewhere along the line something happened, and someone just stopped trying.

I agree I really think they half assed the ending thinking there wouldn't be as much backlash as they got (and deserved) and I really think that they were just going to release DLC (paid ofcourse) to explain things. |

That's the thing, we don't even get those DLCs now. It's like after the end, that's it, no more story, no more content, take what you got and be happy.

Shepard DLCs? Hmm, that sounds impossible if he pretty much dies in every version of that ending. Unless they're planning on bringing him back to life or something... I'm thinking too much into this.

I think it'll be added missions set before the end of the game. It was revealed in the download for the extended ending somehow.

EA even bought Pandemic as well, if I'm not mistaken. Those ****ers ruin everything!
The new endings actually give me a little interest in going back in and importing some of my other ME2 files over and playing again. So that's a start.

Look for the "extended cut" endings on youtube. There's three (not including the don't do anything and die ending).
