I watched it some in season 1 and 2, I enjoyed it, but I guess not enough to stick with it far after.

Yeah, they over-use him. He's not even the best character. Stan and Steve are way better. As well as the Koala Bear. They say he's the break-out character, but honestly, I don't see where the popularity is coming from. American Dad isn't even a popular show to begin with. Roger is no Stewie.

it's a show that started off very slow, the first season was horrible, but after awhile it found it's niche and is now a far better show than Family Guy. Much like what happened with King of the Hill and The Simpsons. The first couple of seasons of KOTH were very weak but the show found it's niche and got stronger throughout the years and is now a better show than The Simpsons.

but I'm not going to lie, both Family Guy and The Simpsons have been getting better as of late

lol I just remembered the episode where the parents tried to keep Steve from going through puberty and accidentally changed him into an old fart - then he left home and started living in a rest home.

I laughed like hell at that one - I was in an old folks home recuperating from my bout with the flu at the time.

It didn't find it's niche. It's just that McFarlene stopped being 100% involved after the first season. American Dad was in production WAY before Fox decided to bring back Family Guy. So, season one is very McFarlene-esque, which is why people kept feeling it was a poor man's Family Guy, and afterwards it became the show that the co-creators wanted to do. King of the Hill is one of the more consistant animated shows. The only difference between the early and later seasons are Hank's anger issues. In earlier seasons he had a bad temper, but in later ones he just simply got annoyed. The reason King of the Hill surpassed The Simpsons is because The Simpsons declined in quality. The Simpsons at its best is better than King of the Hill in it's prime.

Instead to watch American Dad I would prefer to watch family guy , a lovable show for me That I can watch even from my busy work schedule...
