Default Independence Day 2....and 3?

Quote:
IESB is reporting a rumor that Will Smith has signed a deal with 20th Century Fox to make two Independence Day sequels that would be shot back-to-back.

According to the site's source, if all goes according to plan, the sequel(s) could shoot as early as 2011. Roland Emmerich would again direct after his Shakespeare drama Anonymous. The films would start after Smith completes his next project, which could either be Men in Black 3 or The City That Sailed.

The original film earned $817.4 million worldwide ($306 million domestic and $511.2 million overseas) in 1996.
This news is a little too close to April 1st for my liking but if it's true: Oh mama.

I just hope they bring back Goldblum too. And with Emmerich directing again we can rest assured that the CGI will be Bad. Ass.

Kind of close to April, but I also agree that if it is indeed true, I'm totally there. Of course the first one was campy as hell, but it's still a film that I could seriously watch today and not feel bad about it. I'd definitely watch a sequel... or two.

Complete. Guilty. Pleasure.

Now that's what I call a third encounter.

Guilty pleasure as well. It's entertaining and so damn cheesy at the same time. I think it's one of my favorite Will Smith movies.

I'd definitely be interested in watching them if they do. Just hope they can recapture the fun of the original.

Well i wonder if Will would be playing the president. Barack Obama deal in this movie. I am hoping they have Randy Quaid's kids grown up fighting aliens. I can't remember Randy played so just say Randy Quaid's kids.

Don't mind new characters, just don't want them using new actors for the same characters.

Well they likely need new characters to play the kids who were Quaids characters kids for not sure if they even act anymore who played them. So likely they would need older actors.

Whoa, this came out of nowhere. I would probably watch these though, I always enjoyed the original...pretty fun action/scifi, I'm always down for that.

I think they should use H.P. Lovecraft's alien creatures like Cthullu. Although that thing should be saved for Independance Day 3. Its the only way the sequels would be entertaining, interesting and good if they use H.P. Lovecraft's alien creations like Cthullu.

He has no imagination. He copied the exact same thing I said in the McPhee thread.

When the official new movie Independence Day 2 or 3 will be releases in between 2011 or 2012? So the first one was so good! I am really likes it alots. I would definitely if Independence Day 2 will be coming out sometimes 2012 or 2013.
