Nah, they'll still blame Raimi because he left and didn't compromise instead.

Yeah I agree. The next year or so is going to be entertaining with regards to this movie.

Who they get may tell people what type of style they want and the story basically for each director has a different style and attitude.

Well, here was what Sony originally planned. And, you guessed it. It was really dumb.

Quote:
Next 'Spider-Man' film will be a gritty, contemporary reboot of the franchise

The next Spider-Man film will be a reboot of the franchise, not a continuation of series Sam Raimi created back in 2002 — in a move similar to Batman Begins restarting the Batman franchise seven years after Batman and Robin underwhelmed fans and critics.

This time around, the series will place Peter Parker in a more contemporary setting, as a teenager battling today’s issues. The decision to go with an origin story stemmed from Sony developing two Spidey projects simultaneously. According to studio insiders, Sony was working on both Raimi’s Spider-Man 4 and the new origin story from James Vanderbilt, who wrote Zodiac. The original plan was to keep the Spider-Man gang together for one last film in 2011 before rebooting the series in 2012. When it became clear that Raimi would not be able to make the summer 2011 release date planned for Spider-Man 4, the studio opted to scrap Spider-Man 4 altogether, and focus solely on the series reboot.

Who will helm the new film is anyone’s guess but with the studio interested in a more gritty, contemporary redo of the series, they are certainly focused on younger directors making waves in Hollywood. One name that has popped up is Marc Webb, the man behind (500) Day of Summer. He was previously in discussions with the studio to take over Moneyball, but that job went to Bennett Miller. Michael Bay has also previously expressed interest in taking over the Spider-Man franchise and Seabiscuit director Gary Ross worked on one of the drafts of Spider-Man 4 and is said to be a huge fan of the comic book series.
http://hollywoodinsider.ew.com/2010/...er-man-reboot/

Are you kidding me? So not only were they going to do Spider-Man 4, they were going to reboot it a year later. Wow, talk about milking the cow. And no matter what happens, there's still one issue. Raimi left because he wouldn't compromise with the studio, despite them giving him "creative control". So whoever they hire will probably be a pushover, thus allowing the studio make whatever kind of spidey movie they want. And if I had to guess, it's not going to be a good one.

And secondly, why the hell does this reboot have to be gritty as well? There going to try and make this like Batman? Seriously? It doesn't fit.

It's not going to be gritty, EW are purely speculating. I think it'll probably be more culturally relevant and issues-based, but that's it.

So Spider-Man is going to keep the peace at a town meeting over health care then I guess. Sounds riveting!

Horrible horrible horrible idea. Spiderman needs to disappear for another decade. What's with studios thinking it's okay to reboot a franchise less than five years after the original? First the Hulk, then Fantastic 4 got announced, and now this ****!? My God, all these franchises need to settle.

So I guess seeing all of Spiderman's box office records get kicked around at the box office by the Dark Knight got Sony all worked up, so they've decided to go ahead and copy it.
If they go dark the fans will hate it, just look at Spiderman 3, which I felt was a little too emo, and I expect more of the same if they go younger and try to attract the teen demographic we could very likely see Spidey go the way of Twilight.
Oh, and that list of directors the article listed were absolutely putrid save for Webb. I would think the guy who directed Seabiscuit would actually be partial to keeping Tobey on board. If Michael Bay gets his hands on this it will be all kinds of fail.
I know this all a lot of speculation on EW's part but if any of it is true, to me anyways it sounds like a huge mistake.

Well I for one will hope that this time we'll see Gwen at the beginning not to mention Captain Stacy. Can start the new franchise with Doc Ock even. I did like Alfred Molina's portrayal of the classic villain but this time he needs to be evil as Stan Lee and Steve Ditko originally intended. If we can also get Captain Stacy's death at the hands of Doc Ock that would be cool not to mention Gwen's death at the hands of the Green Goblin (which I do hope he doesn't look like a Power Ranger this time around).

Perhaps they should get Greg Wiseman to come in and give it a shot especially his great work on Spectacular Spider-Man.

The need to get Len Wiseman who directed the Underworld and Die Hard 4 movies. He knows action pretty well. And in a comic film you gotta have a vision for action as well as drama.

As for Bay he's probably get Shia to play peter Parker and can imagine the fans here ripping this movie up.

He could at least play the part of peter parker for he comes of kinda nerdy and we know he can swing on a vine so webbing wouldn't be a challenge

They need some established actor to play peter. I just hope they don't use someone from a teen drama like that vampire diaries (which looks terrible)

Shia's a good actor but he's been in too many other movies already. By that I mean when I see him in Spider-Man he won't become Peter Parker for me because he's the guy in Transformers and Mutt in Indy. If Bay somehow gets the job he might come and do it though.
