For a movie that had so much hype and originality behind it I've never seen something that doesn't go the distance like it promises.

This film turned out to be average at best... see it you have time to spare but it's not worth going out of your way to see.

7/10

This never looked that interesting to begin with IMO. Maybe catch it on DVD sometime.

The animation was spot on, the story wasn't. It felt very "Secret of NIMH" to me. Fun ride, but it is short. Very little exposition. Sort of a jump right in and get it over with type of movie.

This movies is all about visual details and creating an environment. Yes the story is simple and a bit on the hollow side but there are some honestly stirring moments. I like Shane Acker's style, especially after watching the original short (look it up on youtube if you get the chance). I think the film would have been better serviced by keeping more of those elements, like the use of music and lack of dialogue (though I really enjoyed the full length feature score) and it could have definitely benefitted from a longer and heftier story. Despite this, the characters and their designs are interesting, the camera work is surprisingly artistic and the world Acker has created in tantalizing to look at.

It's gonna suffer from it PG-13 rating. America just isn't tuned in to this kind of fusion of darker themes and animation yet. I'll be curious to be what it does internationally.

All in all, I liked it. A for effort (though really more like a B).

Been wanting to see this one for quite some time now. As Knerys said, it's more for the visuals than anything.

The story, as we all know, has been told a 1,000 times. Man makes machine, machine turns on man, and ect...

I liked the characters, the suspense, and the action. With that said, there still seemed to be a little bit of story missing in there somewhere. Maybe it just lacked the originality I was expecting as there were quite a few familiar themes within the film.

Still, not a bad viewing experience, but not one I would be chomping at the bit to watch again.

A little above average: 6/10

Well, I'm glad I didn't go out of my way to see this.
