The Descent is a modern horror classic in the making. Director Neil Marshall creates characters that fail to fall to the traditional use of gimmicky stereotypes. The claustrophobia atmosphere is riveting, the acting is outstanding, and the scares are intense. I actually enjoyed the scares more when they focused less on the monsters, and more on the claustrophobic segments. All of the characters presented changed dramatically in the cave as the film progresses, and Marshall makes sure theirs enough back story and development to warrant each characters reform. The score is fantastic and the direction by Marshall in the caves is sublime. Theirs enough gore here to satisfy the Hostel fans and enough story and intelligence to please the everyday moviegoer. Everything from Alien to The Shining is embedded in Neil Marshall's masterpiece. This is one of my favorite films to come out this decade and each repeated viewing offers something new and factual to this creepy cave diving expedition. Lets hope the unwarranted sequel delivers the goods.

I understand why there was so much praise for The Descent, but I really think that movie gets a bit over-rated because of the watered down expectations of the horror genre at the time.
There was a lot to like in it, namely the camcorder scare and the (original) ending. But i must say I wasn't overly keen about the characters, they weren't particularly well acted or developed when compared to the standards of any other genre. Still, it was a dramatic improvement over Neil Marshall's first film Dog Soldiers, not that thing was truly overrated. 7/10

I am gonna put up a really good movie for review if anyone wishes to comment on the Descent you can but this next movie is truelly one of the best films made in resent years. I believe in this movie so much leaving this review open 4 days if need be.
Casino Royale. What can one say about the movie who braught back bond and the word action movie back to theators. In the hands of Campbell Bond will never die so i expect too see him back for the next bond to gaina career with.Casino Royale doesn't feel so much as just a bond movie but is alot more then that. Craig in his hands has made movie this and in Solace a movie all can love not just bond fans. 9/10 |

I dug Casino Royale for the same reason that a lot of people didn't like it; it modernized Bond. As big of a Bond fan as I am, it was getting pretty apparent that Bond was struggling, especially when competing in the age of Jason Bourne. The story was more mature and had intense action sequences and definitely was a step above the past few Bond films. The same can also be somewhat applied to Quantum of Solace. The two main complaints I've heard in regards to QOS is that a) it's not a Bond film and b) the story doesn't make too much sense, to which I reply a) Casino Royale wasn't really a Bond film by comparison either and b) name a Bond movie who's story really does make sense. Any criticism of Casino Royale and even QOS is more based on preference, because both are pretty solid, even for Bond films.

I said this in the Battle of the Bond films, but it's worth repeating; Casino Royale is my personal favourite Bond film so far. Daniel Craig already ranks as highly as Connery does as Bond. La Chiffre may not be the most recognizable Bond villain, but is interesting none the less. I also like how they handled Vesper Lynn, with him falling in love with her then having her killed. Much better then how it was handled in OHMSS
10/10 (p.s. why is it that every movie posted on here that I've seen is also a movie I give a 10/10 to?)

I honestly cant remember a whole lot about this movie, but I remember that I liked it a lot. It was the dawn of a new bond era, and they hit the mark right on.

Here's what I wrote about it in my journal last November, sisn't see a need to rewrite my opinions.
I like this movie, a lot, but I don’t salivate over it the way a lot of people do. I have a fair share of problems with it, some are rooted in my fanatical Bond enthusiasm, some are outright legitimate criticisms. First of all, the decision not to open this with the gun barrel was an evil bull**** idea. That opening is a tradition and not having it is like having ham instead of turkey on Thanksgiving, maybe a perfectly good replacement in theory but completely against the customs of the day and just plain wrong. That’s indicative with the bigger problem I have with the movie: why did it have to be a reboot? I’m all for making Bond a grittier character, but did they need to make him a green agent just starting out as a 00 agent? I don’t think so, I think there were plenty of ways they could have made a grittier character without taking the drastic measure of denying everything that came before. Also, having Bond playing Texas Hold ‘Em instead of Baccarat is heresy. What’s more the game they play is completely unbelievable, every time I play poker I’m lucky to so much as get a three of a kind, but these guys regularly seem to get dealt full houses and straight flushes. The odds of them getting a hands like these as much as they do are astronomically low and this breaks some of the tension for me. Of course most of this probably isn’t an issue for audiences that are less picky. Aside from these problems, this really is pretty damn good. They followed the Ian Flemming novel surprisingly closely aside from the three (very good) action scenes they added. As a movie buff this provided me with a lot to like, as a James Bond freak it kind of pissed me off in a couple ways, in the end I’m a movie buff first. 7.5/10

I feel the same way Dracula does, I felt it was good and a vast improvement over the last 2 Bond films, but overall was just good. It wasn't very exciting and lacked the charisma of the classics as well as the punch compared to the Bourne films. It's good, but I don't think it's great, though it was definitely better than Quantum of Solace.

The one draw back that does not make this a 10/10. Still feel Brosnan was the better bond Character actor. He could have done so well ina casino driven movie i think. But Craig is a desent attempt at a bond. Mistake number 2 is taking us out of bond lore by no Q or Moneypenny. John Cleese is fine as Q but i want a better actor can get Bill Nighy.
I miss the gadgets and feel thats still missing in the reboots. So again why no 10/10 is because they did not do the bond stuff i knew and loved. |

I am pleased with the rating for this movie enough too move on.
Entrapment. ![]() Many say this movie is simular too Thomas Crown Affair but i say its better really. I never really paid close attention to Connery and Jones age differance for they have such good chemestry. Likely cause Sean was use too working with beautiful women in Bond and for him was an easy role. It does have some flaws but Sean Connery is good in this. 7/10. |

This movie turned out okay. The nice team work they had, did good for the movie. A nice scene that comes to mind, the whole avoiding the lasers...nice right there.

it was afterwards (mediocre, but probably better than Entrapment), then he made that League of Gentlemen thing and that was it. I wish he'd come back and make one more good movie to really retire on.

Well maybe Seans knows a bad script when he sees one and just for the record. LXG was not that bad a film. I iwshed he would have played Indys father like Quartermaine or maybe i could believe Henry Jones was more like Indy when he wasn't aroun dJunior.
