Fox's long-running 'King of the Hill' canceled
1 hour and 45 minutes ago

"King of the Hill" is over the hill at Fox, which is canceling the long-running animated comedy.

Final episodes of the half-hour series, now in its 13th year, likely will air during the 2009-10 season, Fox said Friday.

I used to like this show, but it has been on a long time and as Bond alluded to has more or less over-stayed its welcome.

I have always liked King of the Hill. It was never great but it just kind of feels...comfortable.

maybe it got canceled because nobody watched not because it was bad... king of the hill had viewers... and i actually watched the episode tonight for some reason, that was pretty good stuff.

I don't recall ever saying Firefly was magically cancelled, of course no one watched it.

Why do I get the feeling your main goal at CS is to bust someone's chops? I mean, I know it's fun thing to do on the internet, but you do it a lot.

Simpsons is an unbelieveably huge cash cow for Fox, especially overseas. I wouldn't be suprised if it keeps going til one of the voice actors dies.

They did bring Futurama back, and it was very successful on DVD and cable broadcast. However, the writers wrote the last movie as a series finale - it has actual narrative closure - so maybe that's a sign? But my money's on Futurama Volume 7 (aka Season 6).

Officially, on record, FOX and 20th Century Fox Television have said The Simpsons will never be cancelled. It will stay on the air until the cast and crew have had enough.

Here's the most recent public statement: http://www.tvweek.com/news/2008/10/2..._cable_win.php

Phil Hartman already did - yeah I know, you meant one of the main actors.

The Simpsons Poised for Multi-Season Pickup
By Joyce Eng
Thu Oct 30, 6:41 PM PDT

Don't change that channel yet.

The Simpsons, TV's longest-running American sitcom, is on tap for at least three more seasons, The New York Post reports.

"The cast is signed for three more years, so I would now say it's about a 90 percent chance we'll come back for at least one of those three," Al Jean, the show's executive producer, said. "I actually think it's better than a 50 percent chance we'll do three more years of this at least."

Should the triple renewal follow through, that would put the animated series at 23 years old - raise your hand if you're younger than it! - which would give it sole bragging rights as the longest-running scripted series, of any genre, ever.

At the moment, The Simpsons is tied with 20-season-long Gunsmoke for the honor. You know they totally want to break the tie.

Are you excited to be staying in Springfield? And will The Simpsons ever end?

Ratings prove otherwise. The last episode of the Simpsons drew 12.5 million viewers.
