I think it could be more of a factor that we've seen more of the Avengers clips than we've seen of Batman clips - thus increasing the anxiousness of seeing any glimpse of the mystery

In December of 2007, it only took one trailer to get everyone in Batmania mode for TDK:

I can't compare the movies but, The Dark Knight definitely had the better trailers out of all the Nolan-directed Batman movies so far. Without showing us ANY real footage, the first teaser of The Dark Knight is miles ahead of the teaser trailer of The Dark Knight Rises. We heard The Joker's voice here for the very first time, and that was more than enough for us all:

VIDEO-CLick to Watch!:

Again, we are talking about the trailers, that is all.

I'm just as excited as I was before. Hell, maybe even more so in the regards that we did NOT know what to expect, and we all weren't sure if Nolan was capable of doing another. Everyone doubted him, I won't make the same mistake again.

The only person allowed to be happy, and overtly opinionated about their favorite characters are you and your Superman love. Which is cool, come Smallville time, I look forward to your opinions, as do I when it comes to the new film. If you said, man, this looks good, why can't I win a vote, I wouldn't jump your horse and say, well, I didn't see YOU produce it. Sheesh, I guess I can't get excited for a movie anymore.
I'm going to skip the fact that the majority of that post didn't make much sense.

You're taking this as a personal offense. It's like somebody is beating your kid and you're playing the part of dad coming to the rescue. And who ganged up on you when TDK came out? Everybody was gangbusters for that movie in 2008. Don't act like a victim, MC.

And also, quit saying you're the only one believing in Nolan. I trust in Nolan too as do most people here. I just feel like the movie's promotional materials (so far) have been lackluster. This trailer was a step in the right direction though. That doesn't mean I feel like the film will be a dud, far from it. I'm sure Nolan has an ace up his sleeve.

It's also possible that the marketing department doesn't have as much to work with this time. Bane isn't as compelling as the Joker. And, Hathaway's Catwoman seems VERY disappointing. For comparisons, let's look at the Batman Returns trailer where Catwoman is front and center:

In my defense, I did write it on my phone in the middle of class. I had nothing to do.

Regardless, it felt like you were coming after me, personally. That's all.

I just jumped my high horse because so many people (big on other forums/threads) are attacking this movie for not being epic. Not being The Avengers. Not enough explosions. Blah blah. Which brings me back to my original rant, what has Nolan done to make anyone ever question him for a moment? Sure, he's handling possibly one of the biggest movies in the last 10 years, and there is a lot to worry about and perhaps I am THAT bias towards him and the Batman films. But was it seriously not that good for some people to warrant an 'eh, it was okay' response?

Bane isn't as compelling? You're going off the two pieces of dialogue he had. Catwoman, we had a mere 20-30 seconds of trailer time and we are already saying "VERY disappointing"? And we are using this logic based off Batman Returns? I'm lost.

Also, not like it is a HUGE deal, but there is far more characters in TDKR and they had a decent balance in a trailer 20 seconds shorter than the Batman Returns one you posted.

It's not that any of us aren't excited.

It's that as opposed to 2008, this doesn't feel like the end all, be all of cinema because of the competition it has this summer (Avengers, Prometheus.)

The Joker was front and center for the marketing of TDK. Catwoman, as you can see, was front and center for the Batman Returns marketing. So far, Bane looks like nothing more than a glorified henchman. Catwoman, or Selina Kyle, seems like a sidekick, which is fine, but no where near the awesomeness that was Michelle P. Sorry, but this isn't a good sign. Remember the marketing for Batman Begins? Did we see Mr. Potato Sack a/k/a Scarecrow as a selling point?

And that's my argument in a nutshell. You're arguing on blind faith in Nolan and the quality of the first two films, and I'm arguing on points of merit based on what I've seen from TDKR at this point in time.

MasterChief will be so disappointed when TDKR isn't as good as TDK.

oh, it's easily clear and damn near a fact at this point that the Begins & TDK trailers beat, stomp, squash, eat, chew, and spit out any all TDKR trailers released so far combined.

the trailers to Begins & TDK left you feeling like a little kid again inside, anctious to witness what was instore, with the Rises trailers, you just don't get that feeling

at least, not at the moment anyway

(could the Avenger hype be drowning it out or could the trailers just be lackluster in comparison?) not really sure, but all I know is the feeling/excitement, just isn't present

It also doesn't help that TDKR is overtly eerie, more so than all the previous Batman films.

He looks like a rookie cop more then anything. JGL I mean. I think Batman will live and it will end allot like Batman Returns did. Minus the Catwomen shot looking up at the moon.

It might be a really good film. Its just that TDK had better trailers if ask me. Also this will be really hard to be as fun a movie as The Avengers.
Batman 3 is totally different movie and will be a good movie but its going to be a movie thats really more about defining who Batman is more then the world being in danger.

Since the film takes place a few years down the line, it wouldn't surprise me if JGL was playing a Robin-type character likes folks have predicted all along. The trailers show Catwoman as a sidekick to Batman. So, it wouldn't be a stretch to think that JGL could also be one, especially since the trailer shows a scene where JGL asks Selena about Bruce.

It would not shock me, at least to make an implication that JGL would take over or hint at it, since the trailer definitely hints at that and the death of Batman.
