Director Anthony Minghella, Dead at 54

The Associated Press is reporting that filmmaker Anthony Minghella, who won an Oscar for his 1996 film The English Patient, has passed away at 54.

The prestigious director known for films like The Talented Mr. Ripley, Cold Mountain and most recently, Breaking and Entering, all with Jude Law, was recently filming an adaptation of Alexander McCall Smith's The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency and was scheduled to shoot a segment for the anthology New York, I Love You. Further details are not available at this time.

I kinda liked The Talented Mr. Ripley, but I disliked Cold Mountain and The English Patient.

Still, I think he was a great director.
