Default 50th Annual Grammys - Finally Something to Watch, Or Irrelevant?

Alright, so the Grammy's are on Sunday. And it's their big 5-0. The program will be three hours long, and there's quite a list of performers:

1) Michael Jackson.. Nobody will confirm or deny the rumor, but the creator of the Grammy's said they were trying to get Chris Brown for a "special performance" but Brown can't because a throat infection.. Everyone was touting Brown as the next MJ because of his dance moves. So it's likely Brown was supposed to take part in the MJ performance is my guess.

2) Miley Cyrus.. Disney's newest monster will chew up a primetime slot as well as the Disney and Family Channels. Likely performing her new song, which was overwhelmingly successful.

3) Prince.. His performances are usually pretty interesting, I guess. Not a fan in the slightest, but he has a huge base which I'm sure will enjoy his performance.

4) Amy Winehouse.. May or may not appear, depending on whether or not they grant her a US visa after her crack smoking video.

5) Alicia Keys.. Sold over 700,000 copies first week.. Wow. And she's got pipes.

So, will you tune in? I just think the time cut-off for the awards is a bit ridiculous, as it left out some of the year's biggest albums. Not even Alicia Keys made the cut, so she can't be nominated for best album until next year. Jay-Z, whose American Gangster was unbelievable, can't be nominated either. Britney Spears could have potentially been nomianted since Blackout was very well-received by critics as pop album of the year, and The Eagles will be left out of it all as well. Those are some big names being left out IMO, making the show kind of irrelevant.

What's your take on the Grammy's?

Agreed. I've never watched the Grammys, and that won't change this year either.

the grammys are such a sham. if there was any awards show above the others that awarded popularity over talent, this is the one.
