Default My goal

My goal is to lose 20lbs by March 1st. I have slowly started to exercise and eat better and already I’m 3lbs lighter. Can anyone give me some good advice on how to stay focused and determined?

I suggest you change up your workout schedule every week. Also make sure you are challenging yourself with each workout. There is a great site I found on the internet recently that gives all sorts of advice for people interested in health and fitness I hope it helps you. Here ya go, http://www.findyourdetour.com/.

I'm actually going back to the gym (Bally's) lately. I'm doing the body shaping exercises first since someone who works there told me it makes it easier to get the weight off by exercising.

Besides, I'm not as concerned about getting a six pack. Looking in shape is good but I've learned over the years that feeling like you're in shape is most important.

Working a different set of muscles every day or doing weights one day and aerobic (or low impact) exercises another is a good idea.
your muscles need time to rest and rebuild after they are worked.

They also say eating a little lean protein after working out or lifting can help build muscle faster, which in turn burns more fat.

- Dont smoke
- Dont make unrealistic goals (like vowing to eat only rice cakes), the idea is to eat better, not immaculately.

Another one is to NOT call it a diet. The more you call it a diet the more you'll want to cheat on that diet and eat foods that you shouldn't be eating. To call it a diet is stupid because sooner or later your diet ends and you regain all of the weight. Just change your eating habbits and don't bother calling it anything.

Maybe take up a sport too. I recently started kung fu and I think its a great workout along with going to the gym. If you do this and eat sensibly you should reach your goal.

Is masterbating a sport? If so, I'm a professional athlete.

1. If you drink soda, stop. Switch to water. One it is healthier for you. 2. It has come out that for every extra can of soda you drink a day (without exercise), you will gain a pound of weight.

2. Do any type of physical activity. Walk after work/school. Skip the elevator/escalator; take the stairs everywhere.

Those 2 things will help you tremendously.

I lost 35 pounds in 1 semester at college by not having a car and having to walk everywhere. I lived on the 10th story of a 10 story dormitory that had am elevator that seemed to break every time I went out for a bike ride. It got to the point, that I would just lug the bike up the 10 flights of stairs even if the elevator was working.

My diet didn't really change, just the extra exercise did it.

I think that's pretty over-exaggerated... unless by "without exercise", it means you literally don't move an inch at all.

I have pretty much cut soda out of my diet. Maybe once a week if that (I like my cream soda and ginger ale everynow and then ). I find I have a hard time even finishing a can of soda anymore...

But activity is key. I walk everywhere now and I have (or people have told me) noticed a difference.

But yeah like everyone has said here, eating right and a little activity can go a long way.

That IS over-exaggerated. I know a guy who's lazy as s**t and drinks soda by the cases and is to this day, the skinniest man I know, lmao. So I'd like to hear where these studies (if any) came from.

Well everyone metabolism is different. My roomate eats enough for three and she's a twig.

I mean it could be a tad over rated but it is proven that drinking excessive amounts of soda is not good for you or your weight.

That is true. I just think that a whole pound per can is a bit over the hill.

Hell, my brother drinks a good six cans per meal and he's half my size, lol.

But of course I know very well that soda sucks in the health department.

I made a similar goal last week, I decided that once and for all I was going to lose some serious whieght. I decided to stop eating fast foods and do at least 30 minutes of exercise each day. My determination lasted an entire day before I gave up.
