1-Imitation Of Life(1929/1959)

I had to watch the 59' version for my Contemporary Issues Class and since I haven't rented in god knows when, I had to buy it. I know its has its fans and everything but its just too over-the-top for my liking. I mean its an okay film and I get - or at least I've learnt - why such high melodrama was used but it still doesn't make the film anymore enjoyable.
