Default GTA 6: Liberty City Stories.....for PS2!!!!

In a financial press release, Take 2 Games has revealed plans to release an all-new Grand Theft Auto game for the PSP in 2006. Alongside this comes the news that GTA: Liberty City Stories (a previously PSP exclusive title) will be making its way to the Playstation 2. Later this year Take 2 also expects to release another new PSP title, a new franchise for the Xbox 360 as well as a yet unnamed sequel for a current gen console. These announcements are buried within the company's financial facts and figures from 2005, so we should probably expect more details to emerge over the coming days and weeks.

One thing's already clear: Rockstar won't be making a Vice City Stories for the PSP. So which city or cities will Rockstar create for the next game in the franchise?

Meh I dont see the point. Liberty City Stories was just III tweaked slightly.

No Vice City Stories? Why not? That would make too much sense?

Why'd you call it GTA6? GTA4 hasn't even been released yet, and this will actually be the 7th in the series released for console.

Liberty City Stories on PS2? Yeah, sure, I'd pick it up. I don't even have GTA 3 anymore, and this will be a nice tweaked version.

It would be the 6th title: Gta3, Vice City(4), San Andreas(5), This(6)

And I know that its not gonna be labled as #6, but until the title is definite then its Gta6

Yeah, but they might give it the San An overhaul, complete with the new targeting and the RPG elements. But chances are that we wont hear anything for awhile.

depends on what this is...if it IS going to be GTA3 with a new storey line for the PS2 then I am going to have to seriously think whether it is going to be worth it

LA sues over 'Grand Theft' game

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - The city of Los Angeles has sued Take-Two Interactive Software Inc. (TTWO.O: Quote, Profile, Research) for selling pornographic video games to children with its best-selling game "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas," which last year was found to have hidden sex scenes.

Los Angeles City Attorney Rockard Delgadillo, in the suit filed on Thursday, accused the game publisher of failing to disclose the pornographic content to get the game onto shelves of major retailers that do not carry games rated "Adults Only 18+."

Delgadillo said the company further deceived consumers by first claiming that hackers had modified the original version of the games, then announcing a week later that the sex scenes were written into the original game code.

The lawsuit demands that Take-Two and Rockstar Games, the subsidiary behind "Grand Theft Auto," one of the best-selling in video game franchises history, stop marketing the games to children, pay fines and return $10 million in profits.

Shares of Take-Two plunged 18.4 percent to $13.90 on the Nasdaq in late morning trade, after earlier hitting an almost three-year low of $13.68,

A Take-Two spokesman had no comment on Friday.

Last summer, the video game ratings board slapped a restrictive "adult" rating on "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas" because of explicit sex scenes, known as "Hot Coffee," that allow players to engage in virtual sex acts.

The Entertainment Software Ratings Board launched an investigation and took the unusual step of changing the rating on the game to "Adults Only 18+" (AO) from "Mature 17+."

Take-Two had to pull the games off store shelves and repackage them with the new rating, which crimped game sales and disrupted company operations.

Take-Two knowingly deceived the video game ratings board and flouted California law to market the game as suitable for teens, the lawsuit said.

The city also claims that Take-Two "marketed the 'Grand Theft Auto' series in a fashion that encourages the creation of (software modifications), which has added to the counter-culture image of the games, enhancing their popularity and hence their profitability."

The lawsuit asks that Take-Two be ordered to disgorge the profits from the estimated 200,000 copies of the game it sold for about $10 million in California, and that it disclose the sex scenes to customers who purchased "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas" before the ratings change.

It also demands a $2,500 fine for each untrue or misleading statement the company purportedly made about the games.

Consumers in New York already have sued the company over the debacle and are seeking class action status. Take-Two also disclosed in July that the Federal Trade Commission was investigating advertising claims related to the controversial game.
http://today.reuters.co.uk/news/news...LAWSUIT-DC.XML

I dont think Take Two will go bankrupt, but if it does, that would mean a serious delay (probably not an end) to the GTA series and the rest of Rockstar's games

Yeah, this is late, but anyway:

1. GTA
2. GTA2
3. GTA: London
4. GTA3
5. GTA: Vice City
6. GTA: San Andreas

Like said, this will be the 7th, so if things run along at this rate, GTA4 will actually be the 8th in the console series. People seem to forget that there was a London title, and the only reason some seem to think they know the amount of the titles there are is simply because there is a "3" on the first 3D adaption of the original PS1 versions. I was digging this series back when the first one came out and wasn't even available in stores yet and had to order it online. Bought every one there after (although London wasn't all that great, so if you missed out, it's no biggie).

GTA: London was an add on to the original so I wouldn't really count it as a squeal as such, it's also the only one I haven't had a chance to play. GTA2 wasn't all that either from what I've played.

I want a GTA London with next gen graphics. I read a story on another site that talked about GTA4:World being centered around europe, to be released on ps3, and to have more than just deathmatching online. I won't claim that these are cold hard facts, but I just thought that I'd add this information for you to do what you will with it. *shrugs* I'm excited, though. I have GTA:LCS and it's doing the trick for me right now. I'm getting my GTA fix and loving it.

Thats what I meant, and although I know that the true GTA4 will be the next-gen one, it just seemed appropriate at the time to label it that since I was unsure if the title would be a port of LCS or if it would be renamed down the road

Well then so is technicly Vice City and San Andreas, and as will this Liberty City Stories too of the original GTA3. I fail to see how London should suddenly be discluded from the line up in the series. GTA2 and GTA London were pretty different games from the first, except they used the same engines. Ditto with VC, SA and LCS from the original GTA3. And then following the same routine, it's going to happen with GTA4 on the next-gen engine, which will also get some "add-ons" after it.

Well no that doesn't work. You needed GTA to play GTA: London, I'm not too sure about the PS version but you did for the PC version, that counts as an add on. GTA:2 came out after GTA: London and so Rockstar (or whatever they were called at the time) decided that London wasn't part of the Canon. There is not GTA: 3, Vice City (4) and San Andreas (5) as for Liberty City Stories I don't know if it would be 6 or 3.5

GTA London was a stand alone on console, obviously, considering that's the only possible way any console owners could play it (and that's the ones we're talking about). Where are you getting your info from that Rockstar suddenly decided to forget about it in the run (and yes they were still called Take-Two and Rockstar back then)? I doubt that when the time comes they're going to name the next-gen version GTA6 or GTA7. It wouldn't make any sense. London was to the first GTA, like VC and SA was to GTA3. Spiritual sequels using the same engines. As evident when they're not tacking on the sequeled numbers. Chances are pretty good that when the next-gen engine comes around, they're going to be calling it GTA4, and then from there add on more sequels using the same engine as that one.

I coulda swore they were still going with the DMA Design name at that time GTA: London was made. And yeah I doubt they would call the next game GTA6 or GTA7 I'd guess they'd give it a title.

I have a weird memory of a friend with GTA: London for the PS and needing to have GTA to play it but I'm not sure how that worked and I don't talk to that friend anymore.

DMA Design made GTA 3, they were acquired by Rockstar and now go as Rockstar North. Theyve made every GTA game along with a few other Rockstar ones (Manhunt)

It would make most sense for the Next gen GTA to be named GTA4

According to the UK magazine, Games Master, GTA4 will be on the PS3, also GTA VC and GTA SA they are side stories not proper sequels. This is going by what the magazine says and they have yet to be wrong with their info. Either way I can't wait for another GTA. According to the same magazine there are "2 more GTA's heading to the PSP", one of them is an all new GTA. That one "apparently" is to make up for the PSP not having GTA LCS as an exclusive title.

First, they anticipate only two next-gen GTA games hitting the consoles in the next five years, versus the three current-gen titles. In the same period, they say "there is potential for up to six PSP titles (five, post Liberty City Stories) over the next five years," continuing, "Take-Two could develop unique PSP games between major next-gen console releases or ports of existing titles. Shorter development cycles on PSP enable Take-Two to release PSP titles more frequently. The regularity with which Take-Two releases GTA titles on PSP will be critical to the franchise’s revenue growth in the next-gen cycle and underlies our revenue growth forecast."

Is it gonna just be a PSP Port or are they adding stuff to Liberty Stories to make it better for the PS2?
