Default Oscar Atrocities!! Can't Believe they Won(Lost)!

What's your biggest Oscar crime? Mine has got to be Saving Private Ryan being snubbed in favor of Shakespeare In Love for best picture in '99.

WTF?

Chicago winning Best Picture in 2003. What a joke. The Two Towers, Gangs of New York, and the Pianist were all better films.

2004: Best Director Clint Eastwood. Scorsesse is a far better and worthy candidate.

2002: Chicago as Best Picture. Gangs of New York for me and Best Actor Adrian Brody, Daniel-Day Lewis had no equal that year.

Yes, Scorsese is a better director most of the time. But, not this past year as I and obviously the Academy felt. While the Aviator was very well done, Eastwood created a better film in Million Dollar Baby.

Scorsese has had some bad luck though. Been nominated, what, five times now? Hasn't won yet though.

Forrest Gump over The Shawshank Redemption

Russell Crowe being snubbed for The Insider, then the apology oscar the following year for the more ordinary performance in Gladiator.

-Shakespeare In Love over Saving Private Ryan, worst ever.
-A Beautiful Mind over The Fellowship of the Ring
-Chicago over Two Towers and The Pianist
-Steven Sodebergh winning Best Director over Reidley Scott in 2000.
-Michael Caine for Cider House Rules winning over Tom Cruise for Magnolia, I cant belive that actually happened.

This is what I hate. "Scorcese hasn't won yet so they should give it to him now." No no no no, thats not how it works. No one should be given an award because they never got one before. That's what honorary awards are for. Even if Scorcese is a much better director (which he most certainly is not) if Eastwood's direction was better, he should get it no matter how many times Scorcese lost.

Well my picks...

Best Pics:
ROTK over Mystic River
Titanic over EVERYTHING
The Greatest Show on Earth over The Quiet Man
Driving Miss Daisy over Glory (even though it wasn't even nominated)
Forrest Gump over Shawshank Redemption (this one's debatable, but I personally liked Shawshank better)

The Deer Hunter winning Best Picture. Deer Hunter is one of the most overrated films of all-time! Also, what about Alfred Hitchcock never winning an Oscar? What was that all about?!

I totally forgot about Apocalypse Now not winning over Kramer vs. Kramer. That's crazy. I mean how many copies of Kramer vs. Kramer Redux have sold at this point? Sounds like a bad Sienfeld episode.

Oh, and Driving Miss Daisy over My Left Foot just sounded funny.

How the hell did Cold Mountain get passed up at the Oscars? That was one of the best movies of 2003 for sure.
