Well, at the very least, Arrested is keeping the awards coming in.

SAG nominee for Best Comedy Series, and a Producers Guild Award nominee for the same. Can't hurt, really.

Man, Fox really has something up their *** about this show. I don't understand why they don't give up the rights. This is ridiculous. Just found this from Matt Roush's column:

Question: Hi, Matt! Hope you had a good time over the holidays! This week's Arrested Development was great. I was a little confused, though. It wasn't the last episode, was it? Also, any word on the show being picked up by Showtime or ABC? — Jenny

Matt Roush: I did have a good holiday, thanks. If this week was Arrested Development's swan song on Fox, which it may very well have been, what a terrific way to go out. At the moment, no other episodes are scheduled that I'm aware of. As many have already noticed, the previously scheduled Jan. 9 episode with guest star Justine Bateman (Jason's sister) has been pulled in favor of a House repeat, and starting Jan. 16, the time period is given over to other shows. Why Fox didn't just air back-to-back new episodes of Arrested over the last few weeks, instead of an original paired with a repeat, is beyond me. In for a low-rated penny and all that. (One possible explanation for pulling Arrested on Jan. 9: That's the night ABC is launching its new lineup, and back-to-back House episodes provide stronger competition.) But like I said, if this was the last regularly scheduled episode on Fox (four have yet to be aired), what a doozy. For those who missed it — which applies to most of you, I guess — it was a brilliantly satirical deconstruction of the show's failing fortunes, with multiple in-jokes about the family's (read: show's) desperation, including narrator Ron Howard begging the audience to tell their friends about the show. There was a mock 3-D stunt, meaningless celebrity cameos (and a great one from Andy Richter playing five versions of himself), and priceless lines like this one from Michael: "Am I the only one that thinks this family is finally becoming sympathetic and relatable? I mean, that's what people want to see, you know." People clearly didn't want to see Arrested Development. Their, and now our, loss. As for the show's future beyond Fox, no updates yet. If anything happens, it's not likely to remain a secret

Well it appears Fox will two episodes of Arrested Development tomorrow after all. The two hours of House have been moved to Tuesday.

No way of truly knowing since Fox doesn't air ads on TV, just have contradicting times posted on their site. Canada is having another Election debate so it won't air in Canada on Global.

Sorry everyone, apparently Fox aired a commercial plugging the two episodes of House reruns. Why are they airing House? Since ABC has new shows on Monday.

A wimpy huzzah...

OUT OF THE BLUTH: Fox has announced a Friday, Feb. 10, two-hour season finale — that's what the memo says, season finale — for Arrested Development. In the season finale — that's what the memo says, season finale — Fast Times at Ridgemont High's Judge Reinhold will guest-star, as well as Arrested headliner Jason Bateman's real-life sis, Family Ties alum Justine Bateman, playing a woman who may or may not be Michael's half-sister.

http://www.tvguide.com/news/entertainment/

There's all four episodes...lamely bunched together, but it's all four episodes.

I wonder if it's a record to have 13 episodes of a TV series aired over the course of six months.

The final four episodes of the season will feature guest appearances by Justine Bateman, Jason's sister, and Judge Reinhold, also seen in the "SOBs" episode (indicating that it may have aired out of sequence). Justine Bateman will play a woman who Michael believes may be his long-lost sister Nellie, while Reinhold plays himself, hired by the family's new lawyer to act as a judge in a mock trial to help the Bluths prepare for a real court case.
Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:

The episodes will also feature Gob (Will Arnett) traveling to Iraq to perform a Christian magic act, which lands him in prison; Buster (Tony Hale) faking a coma to avoid testifying in the family's court case; and George Michael (Michael Cera) and Maeby (Alia Shawkat) taking part in a mock wedding to entertain hospital patients. The whole thing ends up at a yacht party, which is where the series started.

The episodes could well be the last to air on FOX, which ordered only 13 shows this season. ABC and Showtime have reportedly expressed interest in picking up "Arrested Development," but for now the show's fate remains up in the air.

Well atleast Fox is airing the final four episodes, how many shows has Fox cancelled without airing all the episodes (see Peter Griffin's list). Just have to look at the positives here. Its sad but 2 hours of new Arrested? I will be there, I might even shed a tear.

'Arrested' Return 'Highly Unlikely,' FOX Chief Says
By Rick Porter
Tuesday, January 17, 2006
12:47 PM PT

FOX Entertainment president Peter Ligouri verbalized Tuesday what most observers had concluded some time ago: "Arrested Development" is all but finished on the network.
Speaking to reporters at the Television Critics Association press tour in Pasadena, Ligouri conceded that it's "highly unlikely" the Emmy-winning but low-rated series will see another season on FOX. The final four episodes of this season will air in a two-hour block Friday, Feb. 10.

Ligouri says a final decision on the show won't be made until after the network has a better idea of its development slate for next season, but there's not a great deal of wiggle room in that "highly unlikely" statement. He does say, though, that he regrets the series, which won the best comedy Emmy in 2004, never found "the audience it deserves."

The show has averaged only about 4.2 million viewers this season, but that hasn't stopped other networks from expressing interest in "Arrested" should FOX officially cancel it. ABC and Showtime have reportedly put offers on the table for the series, which is produced by FOX sibling 20th Century Fox TV.
Ligouri says he's not involved with those discussions, but "it is in fact a studio property. If there's interest at other networks, it's the studio's right and [creator Mitch Hurwitz's] right to move that on and put that up to bid."

Ligouri also expects "Arrested Development" to take a few jabs at FOX in the final episodes. The show has subtly (and not so subtly) bit the hand that feeds it in the past.

"It would be really duplicitous of us as a network to put a dampening effect on the great art of the spoof. We have a good relationship with the showrunners. I think it is great humor to turn it back on FOX a bit. And I think we've made fun of ourselves consistently."

Showtime Arrested Talks Confirmed
Source: Variety
January 20, 2006

Showtime entertainment president Robert Greenblatt told Variety that the cable channel is in talks to pick up Arrested Development from Fox. "We're very interested in making it work for us," said Greenblatt.

"We're having productive conversations with Twentieth, but we're a step shy of closing a deal," Greenblatt said -- but a pair of major obstacles could still botch plans.

"(Creator Mitch Hurwitz) has not yet said, 'I want to continue to do the show,'" Greenblatt stated, adding Hurwitz's participation would be required if Showtime were to produce new episodes. "Also, 20th is asking for substantially more (coin) than what Fox is paying to license the show. It's very expensive.

"That said, it certainly fits what we do, and I'm a big fan of the show," the executive continued. "We're all trying very hard to make it happen."

Greenblatt insisted that bringing over the ratings-challenged comedy to Showtime made sense: "If even only a fraction of the Fox audience came to Showtime, it'd be a hit show for us."

This show shouldn't have ended yet....Fox never seems to know what they have...if it doesn't involved judges insulting amatuer singers most with no experience or a reality show based on hurting each other physically or emotionally, its isn't a "FOX show." I'm horrified I have to watch Simpsons on this channel...

...and then the creator quits, leaving behind a WONDERFUL show, that should continue for many seasons....its just not fair!

Horribleness

At least there is the Season 3 set in...July or something.

But I agree, I hate FOX....no...I hate the average TV viewer.
