How can i copyright something.....you know, for free?

you can't copyright a screenpay for free can you?

Hmmm..well...there is a way..its technically not "copyrighting" per say..but it is a good tactic if there ever is a legal issue. You write the name on a piece of paper...and then you mail it to yourself. But don't open it. That way you have a sealed envelope with a postmark. That way if there ever is any question, you'll have proof that you thought of it somewhere around that date. But if you open the envelope before its needed...then that does you no good.

so for a script i would do this:

1) of course print all the pages out (or would i only need the title page or would it be best to print the whole thing out?)

2) put script in envelope and put it in mail box and mail it to my home address

3) then never open it

is that about right? sounds easy enough...ummm, i guess the midgets do come in handy

It would probably be best to print the whole thing....that way everything is in there. Just get a really big envelope.....

i recommend you mail yourself 2 or 3 copies at the same time, just for backup. Because once you open it, it's invalid.

If you have any lawyer friends or have a family lawyer, give a copy to them as well. It looks good in court, or as so my professor told us.
