Thumbs up A Salute to Trash Man

I've taken out the trash for years now. Not really minding too much, but complaining every now and then, and then muttering to myself, "Why do I have to take out the trash? It's not something for a girl to do." And yes, I said this, but what i really was saying was, "It's not something for a 19-yr-old female college student, a pure-bred US citizen, who lives in a nicely stocked two-story house to do."

Typical response, right? Welll...as I was taking out the trash tonight, I really realized something...the more and more I do this, the easier it is for me to realize: What makes me better than anyone else? So there are people who get paid to do this and this is their career (or part of it). So what? I am a person just like them. They are people just like me. How am I any different? How am I better than them? The answer to that is...I'm not. The trash "guys" deserve our respect. They wake up every morning at the butt crack of dawn to hop onto that huge a** green monster and go up and down the streets, redundantly, and pick up our dirty a**wipes...our puke, our blood, our disease. True, they wear gloves to protect themselves from the filth, but not even Mr. Clean can protect them from the SMELL. the STANK. You gotta give it to these guys. They work hard to keep our 'hoods clean. Don't laugh at their brown skin which makes it easier for YOU to rag on them. Don't try spitting at their orange vests. Try picking up that lil snack-sized Cheetos wrapper that got away with the wind. Walk over to these men. And hand it to them. With no words, except Thank You.

I respect you, Mr. Trashman. I appreciate you. You keep my lawn clean. You keep my pretty neighborhood from smelling like the sewer. Thank you, mr. trashman. You are my hero. hehe you really are....

lnp. :0)

When I was in 5th grade, me and some friend where making fun of Trashmen but our teacher told us this, "You may laugh at the Trashman now, but he laughs all the way to the bank". So I guess they make pretty good money. that is all

*silence for a moment*
*runs*

A robot picks up my garbage...well thats halftrue a man drives a big truck and a big metal robot arm picks the bin up and empties it into the back of the truck.

There you go - my bin man doesnt even have to smell the rubbish or even put any effort into lifting the bin up either.

There is/was(?) a programe on in the uk about uber garbage men.

You know how you read about some people who live alone in their flat collecting rubish for years and then after they die arent discovered for years and the flat becomes overgrown with vermin etc or the little old lady who owns 40 cats in her rented accomodation (so they **** everywhere and its completely flee infested etc etc) or the people who just never throw anything out - 15 year old foodscraps etc.

These people had to clean up after them.

or when a big dead animal (rat/cat/fox) gets stuck up a drain pipe or in the water supply and they have to fish it out.

It was quite an interesting programme actually.
