Default Evil Dead 2

Ok, with all the editions of this awesome movie which is the best one to buy? I have Army of Darkness and I figure it's about time I get ED2.

Actually there's only two versions.

1) A long-out-of-print bare-bones version.
2) The Anchor Bay SE, which will run you $19.99 in most stores.

There is also the Limited Edition Tin, which I own, but it is the same disc as the SE and $20 more expensive, plus you can only get it on eBay now. The difference is the tin itself, plus you get a big book with a Fangoria article.

The SE is a good one though. Evil Dead II is my favorite of all the three and one of my favorite movies ever.

Agreed, ED2 is definetely the best of the trilogy, and one of the best movies of the 80s. I also really liked the first one, but I've never really liked AoD...

While I think the ED2 is the best of the trilogy, I don't think that is saying much. I didn't really like the 1st or 3rd, but the second was good because it was more of a comedy. I've always liked AoD more than any of the Evil Dead movies.

I thought the second was good cause it brought out who Ash was I guess.

Plus the whole comedy factor.

I hated the first one...

AoD is goofy fun.

IMO, the first one is a classic of its genre, and also a much more important film (in terms of its effect on the way horror-movies were subsequently made/viewed) than most people realize.

You didn't really like the 3rd, but you liked AoD more than the Evil Dead movies? The 3rd ED movie is AoD....

I couldnt agree more with ya.

The ED itself is what inspired me to pursue filmmaking.

Maybe its just cause Ive seen the other 2 a shatload of times and the first one only once is why it hasnt stuck with me. Once I get outta debt, Im gettin em all on dvd.

I agree with you VERY much with that comment actually. I like the 1st Evil Dead movie the absolute best, but the 2nd one rocked as well! ED2 was more of a comedy, which was awsome but ED1 just caught my eye more. As for AOD, I use to think that movie was the bomb until I saw Evil Dead 1 and 2. AOD was a really good movie too, but its my least favorite of them all.

The thing that pissed me off the most about AOD was at the VERY end, the theatrical ending that showed him takin out that deadite in the store.

I was like, "hell yeah this kicks ass." and it would lead up to a kickass sequel and then bam.

No more ED flicks. I think the ending of AOD just builds up so much steam to drive the rest of the series.
