Basically, what's your favorite moments in a movie where a song is involved?
For me, it's either the Singing in the Rain sequence in A Clockwork Orange or the Tiny Dancer singalong in Almost Famous. Also gotta give props to the inpromtu singalong of Save Me in Magnolia. I lurvvve that film. How about you?

when affleck tells lauren adams that he loves her and she gets out of the car and walks away and he goes after her in chasing amy. when hanks kills all of those mobsters around newman as they play thomas newmans haunting score. when faye wong is playing around in leungs apartment in chungking express and they play fayes remake of the cranberries song. this is a great thread i will probably add more later.

The "Tiny Dancer" singalong in Almost Famous is on my list too. And I have a lot more.... The famous ear-cutting scene in Reservoir Dogs done to "Stuck In the Middle With You" by Stealer's Wheel. The "Wig In A Box" sequence from Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Beauty and the Beast ballroom dancing. Simba taking his place as king of Pride Rock. Colin Firth and Hugh Grant having their hilarious brawl to Geri Halliwell's version of "It's Raining Men" in Bridget Jones' Diary. I can't decide between "The Elephant Medley" and "El Tango de Roxanne" from Moulin Rouge. My two favorite parts of the movie. John Cusack and Jermey Piven dragging a dead body through their old high school to "99 Luftballoons" by Nena, in Grosse Point Blank. The Breakfast Clubbers dancing in the library to "We Are Not Alone" by Karla DeVito. "Bohemian Rhapsody" singalong in Wayne's World. The Breaking of the Fellowship in LOTR: FOTR. And of course, the famous boom box scene from Say Anything ("In Your Eyes" by Peter Gabriel). I could probably come up with a lot more too. |

![]() But actually, Magnolia is one of my favorite movies ever, and that sequence with all the characters singing is absolutely gorgeous. It's heartwrenching and wonderfully executed; and something like that could SO EASILY be completely out of place in a movie, but Paul Thomas Anderson made it work so beautifully. That's why I think it's the best movie moment ever. Ugh, I was thinking about another scene to add, but now I lost it.... |

Neodammerung & Narvas - The Matrix Revolutions (epic)
Tiny Dancer - Almost Famous (great scene) Secret Garden - Jerry Maguire (Zellwegger & Cruise is in the middle of the road about to goon their date. nice sequence) Wise Up - Magnolia Afternoon Delight - The Rules of Attraction (hilarious) Head Over Heals - Donnie Darko (character montage, amazing, really gets you into the era of the film) The Show Must Go On & El Tango De Roxanne - Moulin Rouge (incredible) All That Jazz, He Had It Coming & Roxie - Chicago |

Push it to the Limit from the montage in Scarface where Tony is shown rising to power.
Battle without Honor or Humanity - Tomoyasu Hotei from Kill Bill set to the introduction of O-Ren and her crew. Sometimes - My Bloody Valentine from the car scene in Lost in Translation Bang Bang, My Baby Shot Me Down - Nancy Sinatra from the opening of Kill Bill. Tarantino really has a knack for finding the right song and using it at the most appropriate times. |

Man, I just thought of more.... The gospel choir singing "When Doves Cry" in Romeo + Juliet. The Diva's opera in The Fifth Element -- cut with Lelu kicking ass at the end of it. And the Steward of Gondor sequence in Return of the King, with Pippin singing over the shots of the Gondorians going to war. Gorgeous, gorgeous. Oh, and the opening to The Million Dollar Hotel... Tom Tom runs in slow motion from one end of a building's roof to the other and jumps, with "The First Time" by U2 playing over it. Last edited by Anna Bo-Banna; 01-23-2004 at 03:21 PM. |
