Default T4 - on its way says filmmakers....

Even if the terminator wins the governorship of California there will be a T4 says the producers of the terminator 3 film. Arnold might be replaced in the lead though. Don't know whether that is a good idea. But who could replace arnold as the terminator.

Here is the direct quote from the CS! main page...I already made a page on this in the Terminator forum..

Quote:
Moritz Bormann, CEO of the German-based Internationalmedia, producers of Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, says there could be another sequel even if Arnold Schwarzenegger succeeds in becoming governor of California.

"If we come up with a good story, there will be a fourth Terminator -- with or without Arnold," Bormann said. Schwarzenegger is currently leading the polls.

Bormann said he had discussed Schwarzenegger's political ambitions with him during the filming of "Terminator 3" and had thought of alternatives should Schwarzenegger win the election.

Another actor could play Arnold's Terminator character or Schwarzenegger could make his appearances in flashback scenes

It would be cool if arnie had a cameo on the film.

I agree with you completely, Spidey2K. You said in another thread somewhere that if Arnold returns, it should be as the bad guy. That's great thinking. It's almost flipping around what they did with T2. Everyone's so used to seeing the warm and fuzzy T-800 by now that making him the merciless murder machine we saw in the original again would be disorienting. I think that's about the only way I'd support Schwarzenegger coming back.

Yeah the whole protector thing is getting a litte old now...John has to stand on his own 2 feet and take his place as the saviour of mankind.....When the T-850 from T3 comes to kill him, John knows it will happen...He will have to deal with his feelings as his once protector is now trying to kill him...

Check this out...

Quote:
Scooper 'Ants' alerted us that after 34 years of absence, producer Mario Kassar came back to his mother country Lebanon to promote Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines. The Movie Guide, a Lebanese film magazine, did an interview with Kassar in which he revealed some interesting bits on the fourth installment.

"T4 is in the works. The screenplay will be ready in 8 or 9 months. Once we have that, we will proceed with the production," said Kassar.

What new things can we look forward to? "The question that has never been answered in all the Terminator films is time travel. You can come from the future to change the present. But we never see how they go back to the future, which is a subject that can be explored. I think you already know where T4 is going from the ending of T3."

He was also asked about Arnold Schwarzenegger's future with the franchise. "It depends on what he's doing in life. If he wants to do politics, he'll do politics. Then we'll have to figure out a way to do it without him. But he has expressed interest in doing T4."

Ahhhh, a 4th one will only ruin the franchise. Don't debate me about it, I'm right. Look at Batman & Robin. Even if Arnold WAS in it, which he won't be, it would still be pushing it. But since he's not gonna be in it, it will be a waste. This is Arnold's franchise, and his alone. No one else owns Terminator like Arnold. It would be like making Die Hard 4 without Bruce Willis, or Lethal Weapon 5 without Mel Gibson. It's gonna be a huge, huge mistake if they make it.

Actually Terminator is James Cameron's franchise...or it was...Mostow did a great job of taking over...And the way it was left off is prime for a sequel...The other films u mentioned couldnt possibly work without those actors...T4 can..the story has never been about Arnold but about the John Connor character..Which is what the 4th will focus on....

But I'm not talking about the story or plot or anything. It's a franchise that everybody associates with Arnold Schwarzenegger. Thats why I brought up the other movies. You can buy the rights to Die Hard 4 and make a script and not have Bruce Willis in it, but will people still remember it with the other three? Probably not, and if they do, they will remember it while thinking "why?" (Home Alone 3 comes to mind). It's not about the story or how they ended the 3rd one (which in my opinion ruined everything that the first 2 tried to establish), but its about how people will react to a T4 without Arnold. I know most of the people here are big movie fans, but I highly doubt that the few people here can account for the millions of people who will look at this movie, and will probably join me in thinking "Why?!?"

I think its a great idea getting rid of Arnie, its his time to leave the franchise and there's no point of actually having him in the 4th film. I think they could probably replace him with another actor. And plus the "saving John Connor" routine was getting too tiredsome anyway. I hope they could proceed with the war and we can actually see Connor as a hero.

Yes but if done right and marketed that Arnie was not in it from the get-off...people might not be thinking that...Maybe they can get that he is not needed for it...Cameo role yeah sure...Main starring role..No..sorry..

You have some good points, but there was no need for him in this movie. And plus, i dont think the genreal audience will care if he is in the fourth one. And another thing, im still kinda ticked off that he recieved 30 million dollars for barely saying 100 words in the whole movie and having around 30 minutes of actual screen time.

That is another thing..without him they could bring production costs down loads....And i agree alot of peoples problems with T3 was that Arnie's heart wasnt in it anymore...or he moved too slow and showed his age...As great as Arnie is time stops for no-one...Time for the series to move on from Arnie just like it moved on from Cameron

As much as I would love to see Arnie make T4, like some have said a cameo would be enough and I have to agree with them.

The terminator series has never actually been about Arnies character, but in fact it is about John Connor.

So in 30 movie years from now when the T-800/850 kills John that is where it stops. John Connors death will end the series and IMO that's the way it should end.

I know, I'm so happy there will be a fourth installment. However, I'm worried about Arnold and his aging. You could tell his face has changed from the last years in T3. Will we see a 45-years-old-looking Terminator in T4?

Arnold is 56, not 45.The man still looks good IMO.But he should not be back. It's time for a fresh start.

Well he is so wrong, the T-1000 is the best Terminator on screen .No ifs ands or buts about it!!!
The TX was kinda crappy. She lagged the film IMO.She had potential but didn't live up to it.She is a memory now, Which is a good thing.

I just thought of something based on what you just said;

If they were to replace Arnie as the Terminator coming to kill John due to John knowing about his death, it would come as a shock to John because he'll be expecting the T-800 but if they send someone else thenit'll be an easy termination
