Your transcendent movie experiences?

Seeing Fantasia 2000 in my local IMAX theatre. Everyone should see an IMAX movie at least once!

Seeing 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea in 7th grade would be a another. I still remember the experience.

And the Dinosaurs in Jurassic Park would have to be another.

Schindler's List was definitely more than just a movie.

And probably seeing The Wizard of Oz on the big screen when it was re-released a few years ago.

Seeing the rerelease of E.T.- The Extra Terrestrial was a magical experience for me. It was one of my favorite childhood movies and being able to see it and experience it in movie theaters years later was just mind blowing.

i thought t2 was the best moment at the movies for me
for the simple fact that overeas we had no trailers for that film so when r patrick starts going ape with his powers the whole audience freaked out

Brotherhood Of The Wolf blew me away. When it was over my wife had to tug on my arm as I was still sitting there in awe.

I also agree with Steve from Indy - go see an IMAX movie. Matrix Reloaded was awesome. If I'd seen it on IMAX first, I think it'd be number 1 on my list.

Im not sure how trancending it is, but I enjoy knowing that ive seen each Lord of the Rings films opening day, as I will the third. I can tell that to crazy fans of the films in future generations.

I mean, its one thing to tell people they saw Star Wars in the theatre when it was first out, it's another I guess to say I experienced each one first day it was released.

Nevermind, that doesn't sound too impressive when I think about it. But I still enjoyed the films, and I guess they are pretty amazing. It just saddens me that while Golum is basicly fantastic CGI of today, in 3-5 years time it won't be, and definitly not 10-20 years from now. For being mind blowing films of today that will be remembered for a long time to come, that's kinda too bad.

Seeing the star wars OT come back to cinema's back in 1997. It blew me away when the 'Star Wars' banner appeared. From then on i was a star wars fan.

Seeing the Two Towers just blew me away, because I was expecting so much and it lived up to it all. At the end I was just said "whoa! that was so cool!"
I haven't seen a movie in the theater yet that has made feel like that

Seeing the two towers with my dad using my free ticket. My dad didn't even see the first one and he liked the movie.

During early chilldhood, Star Wars was the defining theater experience. A few years later, it was Indiana Jones and Raiders of the Lost Ark. The dragging whip scene was one of the greatest stunts on the big screen up till that point. Getting into teenage years, I'd have to say Batman was pretty cool. There hadn't been a notable "superhero" movie since the Superman series and Jack Nicholson was just awesome. I've been a fan of his ever since.

Most recently, I've found myself grinning from ear to ear while watching the last thirty minutes of LOTR TT...the combination of the battle at the fortress plus the attack by the trees put my visual senses in overdrive And of course, Reloaded in an IMAX theater...the freeway chase seemed like you were standing in the middle of the freeway watching it all unfold.

Midnight showing of STar Wars: EPisode 2. So it isn't the best SW movie, but I still had the best time.

Also, seeing Fellowship of the Ring for the first time. This was my introduction to LOTR. I ate it up.

I saw Attack of the Clones at the Imax. An amazing expierience with a mediocre movie. I wish I could see Lawrence of Arabia and 2001 in all their glory on the big screen. One day, perhaps.

I saw The Matrix Reloaded in IMAX. It was easily the best movie experience I've ever had.

Recently, both A.I. and X2 gave me a crazed high. When I stepped out of the theater I had no clue where the hell I was going or where I really was. Just bright lights.....

Seeing Return of the Jedi when it returned to theatres in its ORIGINAL form years ago....I had never seen it in the theatre before.

But the most "transcendent" experience for me....by far, seeing The Fellowship of the Ring for the first time.

I was no LOTR fan. Never read the books, didn't know the story. I didn't even want to see it -- I was dragged there by my friends who insisted it would be worth seeing. I will never, ever, ever forget it. It was a truly moving, life altering experience. As soon as the music began and I heard Galadriel's voice in Elvish: "I amar prestar nan...", I knew I would never be the same.

So much of it stuck with me, the expansive beauty of The Shire, the miracles of Rivendell....I could go on for hours, but I think many people here know what I'm talking about.

Seeing that film literally changed me forever.
