Only if your PS2 was bought in Europe. It works the same way as DVD-players. Your player will only play DVDs from the region wherein the player itself was bought, unless it's a region-free DVD player. It doesn't matter if you're using the finest Pioneer DVD-player available in the world or a PS2, it's the same deal. But you can buy a device to insert into the PS2, which will make it Region-Free, enabling you to play Region-2 DVDs. It's called "DVD Region X".

depends do you have a region 2 ps2?

PS2s can be made region free by buying a special disk (costs no more than $15-$20 U.S) I have forgot the name but you just ask for/ search for "ps2 region free."

thanks insider you beat me to it - but only just.

Most dvvd players can be made region free - certainly the older cheaper ones at any rate with just a simple hack.

It varies from player to player. Some require a certain combination entered on your remote-control, some require the insertion of a specific device or a chip, and some require more extensive "mechanical surgery".

Since you play DVDs on your PS2, and not on a conventional DVD-player, it will require alternate methods in order to make your PS2 Region-Free. Get the "DVD Region X" or something similar.

There are lots of movies that are worth importing from here in the UK because we have to wait to get them released which leaves more time to pack more extras into the DVD and more time to make the quality better

They're illegal to sell in American shops (the same goes for Region 1 discs in many European countries), but it's 100% legal to buy them via the net. Try amazon.co.uk, blackstar.co.uk or cdwow.com

Yep. Just give them your American adress. People from Europe can likewise buy from Amazon.com. But postage won't be cheap, and you better make sure you'll be able to play the discs.

Which region 2 disc are you after?

You might have to check if your tv is compatable too.

Region 2 and 4 tvs are usually "pal" if we are to play a region 1 dvd we have to make sure our tv is "ntsc" compatable otherwise the picture is funny. I dont know if pal dvds will play on a "ntsc" tv you will have to check.

If you have DVD player wich has pal/ntsc switch you don`t need to have pal compatable TV.

PS! And if anybody from US thinks about buying a DVD from Europe/Region2 you should check from this site Region Comparisons
, because sometimes the UK version isn`t the best one in the region2 (mostly because of their cut status)
