I completely agree that this would make a very appealing, visual, intriguing trilogy (wink, wink). It wpould be a great epic and those types of films are kind of 'in' right now in hollywood, everyone seems to be making them after Lord of the Rings was such a success.
But I'd have to say I couldn't see Shakira as Zelda. She is pretty but not in that etherial way that would be expected for Zelda.
I think your all swinging to high in the age-range for the two characters. There suppose to be adolecents and theres nothing i hate more then watching 30-year-old-married-with-kids actors/ actresses trying to pull of a 17 year old(I know Leo and Orlando aren't married with kids but you get what I mean). I think the film would benefit more if the stuck with adolecent actors, that were un-knowns as that rids the audience of all the baggage that comes along with it. The older actors should be well-known though for audience-pulling purposes.
So I couldn't see Leo/ Orlando as Link, or the above mentioned Zelda's... maybe Keira Knightly because she seems to be the flavour of the month and she's only 18, but in my opinion they should stay with un-knowns.
But if they did do this movie it should have a big buget because any epic story should have lots of money to spend or it just turns out dodgy...

Gore Verbinski - he's good at these things, and he'll make an excellent Zelda director. BUT, Nintendo may influence a Japanese-filmmaker, who knows english and stuff, to make the film. Wouldn't it be mega-cool if Zelda was classical like LOTR, but have scenes where it's more of Matrix/Crouching Tiger.

Ok. My two nominated, and reaslisticly possible directors (i'd want Spileburn to do it if i had the power to, but he'd NEVER make the film in the first place):

Gore Verbinski, as Pirates was really good, and Ang Lee, for his talent on Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Both these men know how is captivate audiences (minus the Hulk), so i'd like to see one of them do it.

THAT IS OF COURSE IS IT'S BEING MADE! 'spose if the Eternal Darkness movie and TV series is a hit Nintendo may consider it. Or they may resume their shelved Metroid the Movie.

Me, being odd, would like to see the movie continuing The Wind Waker, and not have Link as the hero. I read the Zelda books when i was younger, and i liked having ZELDA as the main character, doing the fighting.

But at the same time, i'd want Link to be in it aswell. So sorta like this: Tetra is the main character, and she is the main warrior. Link is her protector and they fight together. That way it's equal, and the reason Nintendo made Zelda a pirate was so they can make some adventures of Tetra/Zelda for a change.

Even though it's an old discusion about Shakira, Shakira was actually an actress before she became a famous singer. So she can act...

well i didn't know that but we have had a lot of singers try to be actresses who just can't act. jennifer lopez, britney spears, and mariah carey. now for the record i do think that a few singers can act. i enjoyed the movies a walk to remember, and the bodyguard. also shakira is old anyway because for the role they probably would hire an actress who is 17-20 years old.
