Just finished The Pianist. Excellent movie. I think I'm settling on 9/10. Maybe higher.

Saw the League of Extraordinary gentleman today....thought it was great. It was funny, exciting, thrilling, and amazing.....a wild ride. My wife and I loved it.
Mr.MovieFan you also need to become Mr.NovelFan....read Verne's 20,000 leagues Under The Sea and you will find out that Nemo invented a nuclear submarine in the 1860's....see no reason he can't have a car in 1899. |

I saw the Others this morning. I'd give it maybe an 8.
I find that I'm a bit too modest on my scores. Maybe I should start rating it out of 4 or something because to me, 0-5 don't seem to be used. But then again, a 50 is failing, so why not? I see 8 as a generally good movie. Much like a B (80) is average.

I watched "The Pianist" the other day. Good movie, but not the best I've ever scene. The film, comes out of the gate stumbling. They had to cut the film to a 2:30 running time, and to me, it looks like they cut a lot of that out of the begining. The first thirty minutes of the film are just kind of sloppily edited. I think the film needed to be longer.
The acting was pretty good, but Brody did not blow me away with his performance. On the other hand his make-up was very good. Good story, great music. If I was making this film, it would have been in Polish, and it would have been split into two 2 hour movies. But I didn't make it. As is, I give it 3 1/2 out of 5 stars

I watched the first Star Wars: A New Hope. It's really good, though, being a seventies movie, it achieved alot for it's special effects. I was looking in an Acadamy Award book, it won 4-5 awards. Thats good. I give it a ***.5 stars out of 5.

Das Boot
I watched "Das Boot" recently. Its nearly perfect. I really can't find any flaws with this film. I watched a bit of the commentary, and I heard Peterson talking about how they got the actors for the smaller roles from all over Germany and Austria, as their many different dialects and accents would give it an authentic feel to the German speaking audiences. These are the small details that make films great. Directors going the extra distance, giving films greater depth. The whole film was impressive. The acting, the sets, the pacing, the minute details, the authenticity, etc. 4 1/2 out of 5 stars.
