A Painted House by John Grisham

The story is about a 7 year old cotton picker in rural Arkansas in 1952. He only gets paid $1.50 for every 100 pounds he picks. In a good day he can pick 70 punds. He gets to go to the movies every Saturday afternoon. But his and his family's world is turned upside-down after they make some unknown mistake. They hire a family for picking some of their cotton, but after that...things start happening. A murder stirs up the town's gossip, a fartherless baby is born...and someone is now painting the bare clapboards of the Chandler farmhouse. They are slowly...painstakingly...counting down to an unknown event, board by board. Luke (The 7 year old) watches the worls around him. He unravels secrets that could shatter lives and change his family and his town...forever.

I love this book. It is an outstanding achievment for John Grisham. He has really captivated the soul of a mystery. I would reccomend it to any reader. Not so much an easy read...but this book will stay in your mind and make you want to read it over and over again. I think everyone will love it.

Well, in school right now I am reading "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest" by Ken Kesey.

The book I'm reading on my own time is "Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption", the short story from Stephen King's "Different Seasons."
