I have fallen behind on trial details, but had a bit of time to listen/watch in today. I agree that Martinez can be grating in his style of questioning, but the witness really just said something along the lines of "If you were in my group I'd put you in time out right now". Really?!? What a glaringly c-wordy thing to say.

Yeah she does not like him, and she can't seem to give a straight yes or no answer - she feels like she has to explain things, but it is a prosecutor's right to cut them off to yes or no.
Some things I've heard recently - Jodie claimed she smarter than Einstein when it comes to an intelligence test score? Also, she's apparently written some kind of manifesto because she's enjoying the fame - hopefully she won't get to cash in on fame - she won't if found guilty. You can't profit from a murder if you are guilty. In other news: Colorado v James Holmes It was revealed that Holmes kept a journal with detailed notes about his plan to booby trap his apartment and shoot up the theater - hope that gets released some time - that would be interesting to read. We're sure to hear parts of it in the trial

Arizona v Jodie Arias
Well Alyce LaViolette the expert witness on battered women is really getting it online - petitions to stop her from giving any more lectures to women's groups, this bunch of hate reviews on her best selling Amazon book http://www.amazon.com/It-Could-Happe...yce+LaViolette Quote:
And for some reason she is due back in court on Tuesday for some other matter - other than testimony in this case, because they're done asking questions - so she must have done something wrong in court. We shall see on Tuesday.

WOW - the defense is really desperately reaching for 'evidence'.
They're trying to use an extreme closeup of Travis' eye to make certain conclusions based on the reflection of what he was looking at when the picture was taken. ![]() That's as stupid as when in 1888 the police tried to look at one of Jack the Ripper's victims to see if the last image she looked at was frozen in place on her eyeball. OR, How about 'the shooter on the grassy knoll' in Dallas the day Kennedy was shot? Someone snapped a picture of the fence and conspiracy theorists say the shadowy outline is a shooter. It's like trying to read tea leaves in court - not gonna happen. This is why it's as inadmissible as lie detector results - they cannot be scientifically proven. EDIT - And another motion for mistrial against the prosecutor for 'intimidating' witnesses ![]() That's it - they're really desperate They're playing a recording of the prosecutor interviewing the first expert witness prior to the trial as proof that he intimidated him - the guy was a complete inept bumbling idiot before Martinez got to him ![]() EDIT - Ahh, the picture of the reflection in Travis' eye was put forth for the purpose of showing Arias did not have a weapon in her hand at that time. Both sides ended up agreeing to the stipulation that that was true. she could have still easily have dropped the camera right after that picture to draw a weapon if she was armed and using available weapons from different parts of the room was another lie - which I think it was - because looking for weapons in that short amount of time between this picture and the last picture is obviously false - not enough time for that.

The rebuttal case has begun and so far I am impressed with the first expert witness - she gives clear examples of cause and effect and explains each symptom present that makes her come to her diagnosis. She's also calling the defendant by her last name rather than the familiar "Jodie" which the two defense witnesses used.
She says - post traumatic distress syndrome does not apply as the other witness diagnosed, rather Arias exhibits bipolar disorder.

Hmmm.... Witches...Vampires...Zombies...oh yeah, Skeleton Queens..what's next?
How about Spirits? Someone in the literary world who brushes up someone else's story in order for it to be readable and more interesting to the public is called a 'ghost writer'. They pretty much do not receive any credit, and remain unseen and unheard of by the public, meanwhile the book gets published with the original person's name on it, and they also get all the praise and fame for the work. But on one occasion in the early part of the 20th century, the literary world would be turned upon its head.... The Ghost Writer Pearl Lenore Pollard was born in Illinois in February of 1883, but the family moved to Texas when she was about eight months old. She started school when she turned six but always seemed uninterested and dropped out during her first year of high school, stating that the academic strain was too much for her - it's possible she even had a break down. She did return to St Ignatius Catholic School later. She was an average girl no real ambitions except to be a singer, she had a short attention span and read very little in those years. Her family once again picked up and moved to St Louis when she was 14 where she made another attempt to attend school but when she was placed in a lower grade based on her performance, she was discouraged but she took lessons in voice and piano. The family moved once again to Missouri where her musical talents bloomed and the family sent her to Kanakee, Illinois for more training but shortly moved to Chicago for more music education. She did some office work addressing envelopes for one music company, and selling music for another. She worked various jobs in Chicago and taught music back in Missouri in the summer months until the age of 24. She met and married John Howard Curran, and they weren't well off by any means, but they were afforded some leisure time to see movies once in a while, and play cards, as well as entertain friends a bit. The couple had average educations for the times, but they didn't own many books, and neither had traveled too extensively. About seven years into the marriage, Pearl and her friend Emily Grant Hutchings were sitting in the parlor with a brand new Ouija board. they had been at another friend's house where Emily had some communication with a relative of hers using the board at that time, so she bought one herself to try and continue the conversation. They had some sporadic communication to begin with in June of 1913, and then eight days later come the following from the board "Many moons ago I lived. Again I come. Patience Worth my name. Wait, I would speak with thee. If thou shalt live, then so shall I. I make my bread at thy hearth. Good friends, let us be merrie. The time for work is past. Let the tabby drowse and blink her wisdom to the firelog." They asked when she had lived and the board replied, "1649-94 across the sea". Apparently this entity had come from England and arrived in America by ship, finding no landing on the jagged coast they had launched several flat boats. Pearl began to see images in her mind's eye of all of this and described Patience as, "...probably about thirty years. Her hair was dark red, mahogany, her eyes brown, and large and deep, her mouth firm and set, as though repressing strong feelings. Her hair had been disarranged by her cap, and was in big, glossy, soft waves." Eventually it was revealed that she had been killed by Indians in the new world. After time the words came rather quickly and with great fluidity - Patience it seems had a great unfulfilled desire in life to become a writer, and soon many guests would be drawn to the recitations, two poems about Russia and The Red Cross were recited in rapid succession. Poet Edgar Lee Masters was among the astonished guests. “There is no doubt...she is producing remarkable literature." The prestigious Braithwaite anthology listed five of her poems among the nation’s best published in 1917, and the New York Times hailed her first novel as a “feat of literary composition.” Curran once said, "I am like a child with a magic picture book. Once I look upon it, all I have to do is to watch its pages open before me, and revel in their beauty and variety and novelty....When the poems come, there also appear before my eyes images of each successive symbol, as the words are given me....When the stories come, the scenes become panoramic, with the characters moving and acting their parts, even speaking in converse. The picture is not confined to the point narrated, but takes in everything else within the circle of vision at the time....If the people talk a foreign language, as in The Sorry Tale, I hear the talk, but over and above is the voice of Patience, either interpreting or giving me the part she wishes to use as story." For the next 25 years, Patience Worth dictated a total of about 400,000 words. Her works were vast and consisted of not only her personal messages, but creative writings as well. She passed along nearly 5,000 poems, a play, many short works and several novels that were published to critical acclaim. These would be written down or typed by Curran's husband or others, but later, Pearl was able to type them out herself. In researching for the historical Patience Worth, there were vivid descriptions of places in Dorsetshire England and about the countryside, but no real solid evidence was ever found to verify that she had existed there in the late 17th century - several Patience Worths were found on registers of ships that set sail for America but none could be verified as having been this Patience. Still, experts were astounded that a little educated woman who suffered from frequent anxiety attacks could ever have written such works. Many of the words were unfamiliar to Pearl herself, but every word of the language was so exact that only someone extremely familiar with the time of 1649 - 94 could have recited so fluently the vivid descriptions, and prose of the time. Their collaboration continued, but tapered off in about 1921 when Pearl's husband and mother passed away, and Pearl had given birth to her only child. After that it was infrequent that they would communicate, however they did right up until Pearl caught pneumonia and died in December of 1937. Today the works of Worth are largely forgotten and out of print, but they gained worldwide acclaim from many people and organizations within the world of literature - and captured the fancy of millions. To this day, no one has come up with any other conclusion as to how the vast collection of literary works were produced, other than a gift from beyond this reality.

Arizona v Jodie Arias
Alright - now that the prosecution is doing their rebuttal case things are moving along - 5 witnesses in one day. A former GF of Alexander's who had nothing but good tings to say about him - and the defense came across as rude asking her if he said and did all of the things Arias said he did to her, and with all the "no" answers they really shot themselves in the foot again. They also called a worker from Walmart to see if there was any kind of record that Arias returned the gas can she bought - nope, no record of that in any of the registers for a week and a half. I guess the defense wants to put on a rebuttal of the rebuttal - highly unusual, but it might happen just so the judge gives them every opportunity and reduces the possibility they could use that as an excuse for a retrial. The defense is desperate

Well, finally I think I just heard the Prosecution rests! Next court date is Wednesday - that means that the defense is getting another chance for surrebuttal, I think? And final arguments are set for possibly next week Thursday and Friday.
Has to be at least a guilty of first degree - they might not give her the death penalty, but I think its justified that they could. The coroner was on and said the bullet would most likely have incapacitated Alexander - and that means he was shot last and not first as Arias testified on the stand, because of all the blood evidence that shows he tried to get away and defend himself. Crime scene diagram: ![]() That big pool of red is where his throat was cut ![]() but he also stood at the sink and spit blood there and that is where the bullet casing is on top of congealed blood. Arias is writing a book in jail apparently - and in it supposedly she points to Alfred Hitchcock because according to her they now tried to recreate the shower scene in pictures and things got out of hand - another pack of BS from her - but she's not going to profit from any book about her crime - that's against the 'Son of Sam laws'. She is selling drawings online though and can legally do that - she's not a bad artist but I wouldn't buy one.

Arias is now saying she was pregnant with Alexander's child? She's just making stuff up to elicit sympathy from the jury or sell her story now.
She's totally nuts, a narcissistic sociopath.

No doubt, dolls are creepy! They are little versions of us and that's what can cause people to become uneasy around them their little beady eyes always watching you. The first dolls were not created as toys they were created as objects of religion and witchcraft - effigies to effect change upon a person or persons. Today they are children's toys, but is there more to the little creepy things?
Read on... "Hi, I'm Chucky! Wanna play?" It all started in 1904 when 4 year old Robert Eugene ("Gene") Otto was given the gift of a doll. http://ts4.mm.bing.net/th?id=H.46113...64355&pid=15.1 Gene was born into an affluent family in Key West, Florida in 1900. His father, Thomas was a physician who, with his wife Minnie, lived in what they called The Artist House - a Victorian-style mansion. They had many servants from the Bahamas and the Caribbean to keep up the house, and rumor has it that some were not treated well - at least that is the legend. Gene was given the straw filled doll by one of those Bahamian women who cared for Gene, and loved him as if he were her own child. The doll, which was made in the child's likeness and wore a matching favorite sailor suit, was given the name of his new owner, Robert. Now, Gene wasn't always called Gene, the boy had insisted upon everyone calling him that after Robert arrived because that was now his name. Gene, an only child, took Robert everywhere with him and quite often they could be seen around town together in their matching suits accompanied by some of the servants - I believe the parents were a well traveled couple and may have often left Gene to the care of the servants while they went about their busy lives. Robert went everywhere with the boy, and even had his own chair at the dinner table, Robert was also tucked into bed with Gene every night. Soon, the parents and servants all heard conversations taking place from the playroom in two distinct voices when the two were alone. They said they even heard unexplained giggling, and caught glimpses of Robert going from room to room. Guests would swear that Robert's expression would change based upon the conversations that were held in his presence. Once when Gene was heard to scream in terror, the parents rushed into his room to find the furniture knocked over, and Gene in bed looking very scared and saying, "Robert did it!" When the silverware was found to be in disarray, and Gene was blamed, he exclaimed, "Robert did it!" This became a fairly common occurrence in the years that followed. Everything Gene had been blamed for, "Robert did it!". Eventually, Robert was banished to the turret room high above in the mansion. It was then when school children passing by came to notice that when the family was away, Robert would be seen at one window in the morning, and then inexplicably be seen in the other window facing the street in the afternoon. No one claimed to have moved it during the school day. Gene kept Robert all through his life and on into adulthood. When he returned to the mansion as a painter and writer, he brought along his new bride, Anne. Gene often escaped to the turret room to paint, because "the light was better" Robert was also always there. Anne disliked Robert as he made her feel uncomfortable - and seeing the strange attachment the two had (Gene didn't think Robert liked her either), she insisted Robert be kept in a cedar chest. And there he stayed until both Gene and his wife passed away. The house was bought by a new family with a 10 year old little girl - who became Robert's new owner. It wasn't long before the little girl sat up screaming on several occasions in the night that Robert had begun moving around the room and tried to attack her. Robert now resides East Martello Museum where he was donated in 1994. More than 30 years later the little girl all grown up still insists Robert wanted to kill her. At the museum visitors still claim that Robert is still up to his old tricks and tell of cameras that won't work, overexposed film, pacemaker failings, and the doll's ever-changing facial expressions. It is said that one must ask Robert if they can take his picture before using their photographic equipment. In one such case when a film crew was doing a report on Robert for television, they found their high definition camera to be inoperable. So they switched to another camera which also did not work - until they asked Robert for permission, and everything proceeded as planned. This case is certainly not singular as there are many more cases of haunted or possessed dolls - I'll be back with another such strange tale, The Story of Annabelle, The Devil Doll.... - stay tuned

As promised, I have returned with strange haunted doll case #2
Annabelle: The Devil Doll http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_ma...6g43o1_400.jpg Note The Devil Tarot card on the right side of the case - "A reversed pentagram, with two points projecting upwards, is a symbol of evil and attracts sinister forces because it overturns the proper order of things and demonstrates the triumph of matter over spirit. It is the goat of lust attacking the heavens with its horns, a sign execrated by initiates." Annabelle innocently sits in a custom made protective case in the Warren's Occult Museum in Monroe, Connecticut, a lovely large Raggedy-Ann doll, with a sign above that reads, "DANGER! Do Not Touch ANYTHING!", and another below that adds, "WARNING Positively Do Not Open Case." Oh, they're not protecting her from you, should you be a curious visitor or thief, they're protecting you from HER! Back in 1970 a woman stopped into a hobby store and purchased a Raggedy-Ann doll for her college aged daughter's birthday. Donna, who was almost set to get her nursing degree, was very pleased with the doll and set her on her bed as a decoration in her apartment where she lived with her roommate, Angie, and another friend named Lou. She thought nothing of it until a few days later when they noticed the doll was sitting with her legs crossed - neither person had moved it. Later on it had moved again crossing both her arms and legs this time. This became even more puzzling when they started finding the doll in a different room when they came back to the apartment. Not only did it appear in a different room, - next, it was sitting on the couch, this time with it's arms and legs crossed again. Once they found it standing up in the dining room leaning against a chair. Very odd. Occasionally Donna would leave it on the couch in the living room only to return to find it in her bedroom with the door closed. About a month into all of this they found a parchment with the pencil scribbling of a child upon it that read, "Help us" and "Help Lou". This was extremely disturbing because the parchment did not come from their apartment - they did not own any parchment, they wrote on paper as everyone in their day and age did. They began to think someone was entering their apartment while they were out and trying to scare them with moving the doll around and such, so they set up little traps to find out if someone had entered from the outside - just little things that only they would notice that were different had someone been in there. Nothing they set up was ever disturbed. Next when they arrived home, Donna found something really disturbing - there was the doll on her bed - with what looked like drops of blood on the back of its hands and its chest! They knew they had to seek help to figure out what was happening, so they got in touch with a medium who agreed to come and perform a seance. The medium came into contact with someone who claimed to be a seven year old girl named Annabelle Higgins. Annabelle told them that she lived on the grounds there long before the apartments were built, and that one day her body had been found on the land where the apartment now stood. Annabelle also said that she liked Donna and Angie, and wanted to stay with them and be loved. Donna was very touched and agreed that Annabelle was welcome to stay as long as she liked. Lou had a different opinion as he was very spooked by everything that had been going on and told the two he believed the doll was evil and they should get rid of it - but being outvoted, Annabelle stayed. Not long after, Lou experienced a reoccurring frightening dream - until one night in the middle of a deep sleep he suddenly felt quite awake, but unable to move. Looking around the room, he couldn't see much of anything - then he saw that Annabelle was at the foot of his bed, next thing he knew she was slowly floating up his leg and onto his chest - and it stopped - all at once he was being strangled! Unable to move or breathe he came to the point of asphyxiation and blacked out! Lou woke the next morning feeling very certain it was not a dream - and he was determined that that doll had to leave! The next morning he was preparing for a trip and looking at a road map with Angie when they heard a rustling from the bedroom. Lou got up to investigate, but waited until the noise had stopped. When he entered the room he found the doll lying on the floor in a heap - but there was no sign of forced entry - when he got closer to the doll, he felt someone behind him - he quickly turned around, but no one was there. Suddenly Lou felt a harsh burning on his chest and he was bleeding - looking at his chest he had seven slashes upon it that looked like claw marks - three vertical and four horizontal. The wounds suddenly stopped bleeding and were completely healed as quickly as two days later. It was time for more professional help - now they believed that this was not a spirit of a child - but an inhuman - one who had never been born. They called in an Episcopal priest, Father Hegan, who then decided he should call upon a higher authority in the church and contacted Father Cooke. Father Cooke contacted the Warrens. Ed and Loraine Warren were experts in the field of the paranormal - he being a demonologist and she being a psychic medium - they were quite knowledgeable and had a great deal of experience in the field. When contacted, they immediately came to the conclusion that this was an inhuman manifestation. But these demonic entities don't really possess dolls - they are more interested in possessing humans. This one had attached itself to the doll with the purpose of winning favor with the human inhabitants of the apartment - in order to eventually overcome, corrupt and possess one of them. Donna had made a big mistake by inviting it to stay. It had moved the doll in order to get it's intended victims interested enough to call a medium so it could communicate with them, It then prayed upon their sympathies with a false story of innocence lost. After being invited it grew in strength and would have most likely succeeded in possessing one of them in a few more weeks - if not actually killing all of them. The Warrens advised them that they should have the apartment exorcised by Father Cooke - and reluctantly he complied and performed the long seven page ritual which had the emphasis, not on getting rid of the infestation, but rather filling the apartment with the positive power of God. In addition, and in order for it not to happen again, Donna asked the Warrens to take the doll with them - and they did. Ed Warren put the doll in the back seat, as it made Lorraine very uncomfortable - and on the way home - Ed began to have problems steering the car, swerving left and right with the breaks failing, he narrowly missed driving off the road and headlong into the trees or something. Also, along the way the car started to sputter and stalled out - Ed had had enough, got out of the car, opened the door to the back seat and splashed the doll with holy water in the sign of the cross. The rest of their trip was uneventful. Reaching home, they had experienced more strangeness - after a few days, the doll levitated from the chair Ed had set it in. It also began switching rooms again when they had left and returned to the house. They tried to lock it in the outer office only to find it in Ed's easy chair when they arrived home again. After several weeks of this, a Father Bradford visited the house. The Father happened to be a Catholic exorcist but he should have known better than to pick up the doll and say, " You're just a ragdoll Annabelle, you can't hurt anyone." The breaks on his car failed on the way home as he entered into a busy intersection - his car was totaled in the accident. On a personal note, my sister attended a speaking engagement that the Warren's held in Worcester, Massachusetts where she attended college. At the lecture they spoke of Annabelle, and told of a story when another visitor came to their house. I think Ed was the one at home, and he was showing the visitor their collection of artifacts, when the phone rang. He cautioned the man not to touch the doll, and left him alone to answer the call. Shortly thereafter, Ed saw the man running for the door without so much as a word when he left in such a hurry. They built the special case, as I mentioned at the beginning of this story, and put the doll in their Museum of the Occult - where you can pay a (for @$100/person) visit to see Annabelle to this day, and receive a dinner, and personal guided tour of the complete collection of unholy artifacts at the museum by Lorraine Warren according to their schedule of events. Whether or not you believe in this, or any other tale of evil, please note that one man visited the museum with his girlfriend and scoffed at the warnings given on the tour. He walked up to Annabelle's case and tapped on the glass, daring the doll to scratch him. The man was escorted out by Ed Warren who told the man he shouldn't have done that, and warned him to be careful. Three hours later, he slammed his motorcycle into a tree and was killed instantly - his girlfriend survived. I don't know about you, but I'd be sure to mind my manners if I ever visited Annabelle. Better safe than dead, don't you think? ![]() (Now move along and stay safely behind the rope )

Court News
Finally they are doing final arguments in the Jodi Arias trial! In Florida v George Zimmerman - he is pleading Self Defense instead of using the Stand Your Ground plea. This means he will go in front of a jury and have a trial - HOWEVER - at anytime during that trial, he can invoke the Stand Your Ground law which will bring the trial to a halt and grant him immunity against a prosecution for the crime. Then he would go in front of a judge for a hearing to state his case (no jury). That Stand Your Ground law is so messed up - I don't believe they really thought that through and worked out all the bugs to have passed it already. Dias Kadyrbayev and Azamat Tazhayakov (friends and college mates of the bomber) are being charged with obstruction of justice for taking the Boston Bomber's computer, a backpack, and several other items (including Vaseline which is used so that when someone works on a bomb, there is no spark of friction created that could set off the explosion prematurely) - the backpack also contained emptied fireworks rockets. They were previously told by their bomber friend that he knew how to build a bomb, but apparently did not think he would actually do that at the time - however now they are charged because they (apparently now) knowingly tossed the stuff in the dump to cover for their friend. A third friend has been charged with lying to feds. The FBI has recovered the computer - that will be invaluable in putting all their communications and thoughts together and tell them how and who planned the bombing.

Final Arguments are done in the Jodie Arias case. The defense was all smoke and mirrors trying to distract the jurors with things of no consequence to the case.
The prosecution did an excellent job in drawing clear lines to connect the dots. I think she should at least get life, and I doubt it will take too long for them to come back with a verdict.

Guilty first degree murder!
She will spend the rest of her life in prison - Death Penalty yet to be decided within the next weeks ==================== Other court news - Ariel Castro is being charged with 4 counts of kidnapping and three counts of rape in the decade long Cleveland case where the three women and one child finally escaped. The other two Castro brothers are not being charged for the kidnapping at this time, apparently they did not know what their younger brother was doing. They do have outstanding warrants for misdemeanors that they will be arraigned for tomorrow as well.

Well now, I haven''t posted anything new in quite some time. Got sidetracked - working on a new story though - meanwhile...
Court News Jodie Arias was found to have committed a crime worthy of death penalty consideration so now the third phae begins with mitigating circumstances and victim (family) statements. Jodie has reopened her Twitter and has had a friend posting more garbage for her - she loves being in the spotlight. EDIT - forgot to mention she has been barred from making TV interviews until further notice - and her attorneys tried to get released from the case once again siting what she said in her interview as being impossible to defend - once again, they were denied being released from their duty. In the George Zimmernan case, set to begin next month, the defense wants the potential jurors sequestered before any are selected - highly unusual. They also want to let them have a tour of the site in person so they can actually see the layout. In the Ariel Castro Kidnapping and rape abuse case - he is claiming he is innocent, and his lawyers say he's not a monster - right, now pull the other one. James Holmes is pleading insanity - duh. I don't think he'll fit the legal definition though EDIT - OJ Simpson is in court again seeking to get out due to being ineffectively represented in trial - he is serving a 30 year sentence and has been in for 5 of that already - little chance of getting ma new trial based on his argument

Well now, ghost writers - haunted dolls - there are supposedly all kinds of manifestations of spirits or entities from 'the other side'. Another major category of hauntings is the Poltergeist or "noisy ghost". One such event that made a stir in the news took place on Long Island - not far from the Amityville horror house actually (about 7 miles away)....read on...
They're Heeere! - part 1 Seaford, Long Island began its existence as Jerusalem South around the 1640's. Before that the land was settled by the Marsapeaques a local Indian tribe, as was much of Long Island. The name of Jerusalem South was changed in honor of Captain John Seaman, a native of Seaford, East Sussex, in England in 1868. Many of its buildings have remained largely unchanged and the village grew to be a popular summer residence for many people. February 3, 1958 A clear and cold afternoon, Mrs. Herrmann was at home waiting for her two children Lucille, 13, and James, 12 to come home from school. Soon after they arrived at their typical 50's white and green ranch style house at 1648 Redwood Path - things were anything but typical. Arriving in the kitchen, they were suddenly surprised to hear a collection of loud popping noises from various rooms around the house. No one saw anything actually move or knew what the sound could be until they went to check around the house. A bottle of bleach, a bottle of liquid soap in the utility room, shampoo bottles, medicine bottles, and on and on... all of them with screw on tops that had apparently burst off in a massive explosion of spewing liquid, their contents spilled all over. Mrs. Herrmann called her husband who worked at the airport in NYC, to tell him of the strange occurrence, but seeing as how no one was hurt, he stayed at work until his shift was over and then headed for home. When he got there he was certain that there was some sort of logical explanation - perhaps the humidity - that caused the bottles to blow their tops - although strange they all did it at the same time. He could find no reason for it though, and since all the commotion and excitement of the afternoon had settled down, they went about their evening thinking no more about it.. Two days later there was a repeat performance at about the same time of day when the children came home from school - a bottle of nail polish, a bottle of rubbing alcohol, Bleach, detergent, and starch... even a vial of holy water...all popped. Friday night - it happened again. James Herrmann began to think his science loving son, James Jr had somehow rigged the events. Mr. Herrmann watched his son all weekend to try and figure out how he had done it. Sunday - February 9, when several caps popped off bottles of starch, turpentine and holy water and left their containers rocking back and forth. The elder Herrmann burst into the bathroom where his son was brushing his teeth, and accused him of rigging the bottles - while his son vehemently denied having done so...a bottle of medicine moved across the sink and fell into the basin, and then a bottle of shampoo moved across the sink and fell onto the floor. Mr. Herrmann examined the bathroom for wires or strings but found none, and decided to call the police - not knowing what else to do. At first they thought he was drunk or tired, but they promised to send out a patrolman. Patrolman James Hughes arrived at the address and took their statements - while wondering how did he get all the nut cases? Until several bottles in the bathroom he examined, popped their tops in his direction. Detective Joseph Tozzi was assigned to look into the case. Detective Tozzi went to physically examine the scene on February 11th after reading the report, figuring he would find some natural phenomenon, or mass hallucination going on. By the 15th only a bottle of perfume tipped over in Lucille's room, But there had been quite a bit happening around the vial of holy water - it had popped it's top, and had been found tossed onto the floor after they had heard the thud from another room. Later on that day the children were watching TV with a cousin and a porcelain figure rose from the coffee table hovered in the air and moved to fall to the rug on the floor. After that, Mr Herrmann contacted Father William McLeod of the Church of St. William the Abbott. The Father sprinkled holy water in each room blessing the house, but it seemed that "Popper" (as they had started calling whatever was causing caps to pop off) didn't want to go. The news broke and suddenly the house was surrounded by TV, radio, and newspaper reporters, cameras, and curiosity seekers all day long. Letters and phone calls poured in - every theory from an Indian burial ground to the Russians were tunneling under Long Island was offered. Geological surveys, everything swamped the Herrmanns who listened to it all calmly. People claiming to be religious leaders came to pray on the lawn for forgiveness for the family - for whatever it was that they were supposed to have done for Satan or whoever. Someone with dowsing rods thought there had been underground streams causing disturbances, but there were no streams according to geological surveys. The detective called the Air Force to see if any of their sonic booms could have effected the area, but nothing was found in examination of that possibility. As his file on the case grew bigger and bigger. One big hope the Herrmann family had was the idea from a letter that one woman had had experienced moving furniture in her home - she had solved her problem by installing a rotary metal turbine on the top of the chimney to stop downdrafts. James Herrmann quickly had one installed himself to try and solve the problem here as well, but another porcelain statue hurled itself 12 feet from a table to smash against the side of a wooden desk and shatter. The dent was televised all over New York. On February 20th another figure smashed against the desk, a bottle of ink splashed against a wall, and the detective watched as a bowl of sugar flew to be smashed to pieces. February 24th - a bookcase in James Jr's room fell over flat on the floor when no one had been in there. A 12 inch statue of Mary flew over 12 feet to hit a mirror frame, Jr's record player lifted up and flew 15 feet - a heavy glass centerpiece flew up and struck a cupboard, chipped some of the molding and fell to the floor. a world globe just missed Detective Tozzi, John Gold from the London Evening News witnessed flashbulbs lift off a table and smash against a wall. Popper it seems got a little more violent, and also started banging on walls for attention. Tozzi was at a loss for explaining the escalation to the activity ....(end of part 1)

Arizona v Jodie Arias
The jury could not decide between the death penalty or life for Arias so a new jury will likely be seated for July 18th to try her again in the penalty phase.
