Arrow The Wachowki's Jupiter Ascending

http://www.deadline.com/2012/03/warn...ter-ascending/

Quote:
Warner Bros has offered the leads in the Lana and Andy Wachowki-directed Jupiter Ascending to Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis. Plot is being kept under tight wraps, but for the Wachowkis, the film is their first major science fiction action franchise play since The Matrix. Like that trilogy, Jupiter Ascending is an original creation by the duo, and it’s on track to start production later this year. It comes at a time when Tatum is becoming a formidable leading man, particularly with his back-to-back box office successes The Vow and 21 Jump Street. Kunis, meanwhile, is coming off Black Swan and Friends With Benefits and stars in the Seth MacFarlane-directed comedy Ted and Sam Raimi-directed Oz: The Great And Powerful.
Channing Tatum is quickly becoming the new Keanu Reeves.

Channing Tatum confirmed to MTV that he will star in the Wachowskis' next film after Cloud Atlas, titled Jupiter Ascending.

"Yes, absolutely," he said when asked if he'd be involved in the movie. "It's going to be a crazy action movie from the [directors] of 'The Matrix.' They're going to reinvent the wheel as far as action goes, all over again."

This comes a day after Vulture's report on the possible plot. The site said that Jupiter Ascending is about "higher forms of life [who] are watching us from other, albeit this time non-meta worlds, but actual, other worlds, as in planets and moons."

Mila Kunis will play a Russian immigrant "who is busily scrubbing toilets for a living. Unbeknownst to her, she actually possesses the same perfect genetic makeup as the Queen of the Universe and is therefore a threat to her otherwise immortal rule."

The Wachowki's haven't made a good movie since Matrix 1. Don't hold your breath...

Last time I checked Matrix 1 wasn't even their movie they stole the idea from someone else...

Some woman sued them because matrix 1 was page by page exactly like the book. She owns the rights to all that is matrix now

That was a pretty erroneous report, that unfortunately many have taken as true:

"Stewart's case was dismissed in June 2005 when she failed to show up for a preliminary hearing of her case. In a 53-page ruling, Judge Margaret Morrow of the Central District Court of California dismissed the suit, saying Stewart and her attorneys had not entered any evidence to bolster its key claims or demonstrated any striking similarity between her work and the accused directors' films. As of this writing, Stewart's case is no longer before the courts. She has announced that she does not plan to let the matter drop, so possibly this case could someday be re-filed and heard, but for now it is over."

Well I won't lie, I'm actually excited about both Cloud Atlas (no idea how they're going to pull off such a sprawling, crazy story) and Jupiter Ascending.

We're actually bashing the Wachowskis for being "unoriginal"? Seriously? Of course it's not "original", the entire first movie is the hero's journey. Everyone knows that. They made it their own though and infinitely entertaining, on top of that. Give them a chance. For me, the sequels don't exist.

Speed Racer was pretty much exactly what it was intended to be. Whether you liked what they served, you can't knock it for being some kind of posturing wannabe. It was colorful, goofy, over-the-top and geared towards kids, all just like the show. Not much else to it really.

Just found out a few months ago Larry is no more. No idea how I missed THAT for so long, but as stated earlier the Wachowskis haven't exactly been relevant since 1999...

That's not true because everyone was hyped for the sequels. So, technically, they haven't been relevant since 2003.
