Finally finished the DL this afternoon. (slow internet connection in rehab)
I kind of miss the flavor of the original games, but this is just beautiful.
It's just the start and I bet they will go to town on the next one if the first works like this.

I really felt bad lol because I didn't kill the deer outright and ran out of arrows and followed it around for a while trying to figure out how to club it to death with the bow

Good game.

My semi-review for this game. I'm not sure I'll be able to harness all my ideas in a short review, but we'll see.

This game is gorgeous. I have it running on Ultra on my computer and WOW. I have to stop and just admire the scenery in this game, which is just absolutely spectacular. Landscapes are vast and detailed. Lara is toned down, realistic, beautiful and rugged. The supporting characters struggle for me in both development, dialogue and anything else. The game is 'big' but extremely linear and I both enjoy this, and am not a fan of it. I enjoy it because it FEELS big, an epic adventure almost, and I'm not a fan of it because in reality, it's a race track you're designed to go on, with little to no movement otherwise.

This is one of the few games I have actually played were I consistently played it until I just couldn't pick it up the controller. Although, my biggest problem with the game is that the first half, maybe the first quarter, is so overwhelmingly great that the last 3/4ths of the game is incredibly underwhelming. The action takes the driver seat, and the exploration is left behind. The action is fun, but not nearly as fun as the exploration or puzzles. This definitely, for me, got repetitive after a while.

REGARDLESS, this game is great. High production values. Lara Croft is awesome, and for once, down to Earth in both looks and feel.

I recommend this game, for sure.

I'm nearing the end now. While I like it a lot, too much bloody combat. I miss the puzzles. The environmental ones are great but I miss the actual Tombs, figure out mechanism and such. What they did nail, however, is the story. I'm loving the progression of Lara. They always hinted at the trauma that created this character and they did not disappoint. And the game play overall is nice and varied. I've never been bored while playing.

We'll see how it all wraps up.
