My mother read the book and totally spoiled the ending for me. Damn it.

haha, a friend of mine read the book. At that point, i told him to tell me how the book ends. Because even though I love these filmakers, the more I look at the trailer the more I felt that the ending was going to be something stupid. I was semi right.

Yeah, having read the book and the script, I'm surprised at how much they put in the trailers.

From what I've just read i'm going to try to avoid the book and the trailer just so it doesn't ruing the movie for me.

Looking forward to Shutter Island. Kinda a classic spooky story with some great actors and characters. Hope it's good.

The ending to this book is horrific and is keeping me from being even slightly interested in seeing the film adaptation. Knowing the ending, the trailers give you an outline of the entire film from beginning and end. With the mystery spoiled, it's kind of like watching "The Sixth Sense" for the first time and knowing that Bruce Willis was dead the entire time; you're just not going to get the same impact.

I think that has been the issue. You look at the trailer and say "if_________ is ________, then i am going to be pissed."

I mean, the forshadowing is just too obvious in the trailer. I love scorsese and I love dicaprio, but yeah. I think this movie is going to be average. I am sure it will be well acted and well directed, I just don't like the story they have. If it comes out and critics say "it is WAY different than the book" it would really spark my interest. but I think they aren't going to go to far away from the source.

I've seen the trailer a few times now and I still can't decide if I want to see this or not. Really tough. Been awhile since I've run into a situation like this.

I can't wait for this. Scorsese is my all-time favorite director and I've yet to be disappointed by him.

Have you watched Bringing Out the Dead? That was horrible.

The films of his I've seen thus far are:

Goodfellas
Cape Fear
Gangs of New York
The Aviator
The Departed

But pretty soon, I plan to go through the rest of his directorial efforts.

Casino is his best work(IMO). And the collab he did with Spike Lee for Clockers is great as well. Still wondering why they didn't collab anymore after that.

My favorite Scorsese so far is Cape Fear. It was something very different for him and I thought every minute was mesmerizing, especially that 5-10 minute conversation between De Niro and the character of the daughter.

This is why I can't wait for Shutter Island. It looks to be in the same vein as Cape Fear.

Horrific how? I thought Lehane achieved exactly what he set out to do. The entire book was intended to be a homage to b-movies and pulp.

I can't wait to see the film.
