I've always held reservations about Nolan's involvement with Man of Steel. Putting him in charge of the entire DCU would have the same problems, only magnified. This is a guy who removed every piece of fantasy from the Batman universe. Ra's Al Ghul has no Lazarus Pit to bring him back for another round. The Joker has to wear make-up instead of being altered in appearance by chemicals. Bane has no Venom.
How is a guy with these sorts of sensibilities supposed to handle Superman, much less the Justice League? Besides, running the DC cinematic universe is pretty much a desk job. Kevin Feige does it for Marvel. Chris Nolan isn't DC's answer to Kevin Feige. He's over qualified and doesn't have the right sense of storytelling. I don't know who is the right person, but they really need someone in that role who knows both movies and comics. |

Jon Favreau publicly stated that he was going to take the directors chair for The Avengers, but that didn't make it true. Everybody believed him, since he'd directed Iron Man to great success. In the end, it's the studio who decides, not the directors or the stars.
