Mass Effect 3

Ok, the ending. Bravo to this game for having such an amazing writing staff. I've read over a hundred science fiction novels, so it's rare when I see something original or even an original take on something. The theme of technology vs. humanity is prevalent in science fiction, but it's always just beneath the surface. It's expressed in movies where a new technology is found, and it almost always goes bad. Not because the tech is flawed, but because man is not wise enough to wield it. But this ending brought this to a new level, and for the first time that I've ever seen, there was this idea of an inevitable conclusion where tech is involved. It would be easy to say that it's just a more complicated version of The Terminator, where machines rebeal and take over. That is NOT what's going on here. Instead it appears that at a certain point, technology is inherently better suited for evolution and the caretakers of the galaxy. It's really interesting stuff. The conversations you can have with the child, which I can only assume is suppose to represent a higher power, is really quite deep and complex. And using what made this series famous, you get to make the ultimate decision on what the universe should become, each with their pros and cons.

I chose synthesis, as that was a pretty amazing idea and by the far the most epic of choices. Afterwards I downloaded the extended cut. it took about 15 minutes to do that, another 8 to install it, and another 10 minutes again to get to the choice-making spot so I could watch it. So what happens? I get this silly thought and turn around and shoot the kid. As it turns out, this is a FOURTH choice, and the galaxy is destroyed. Heh, oops. I didn't want to do it a third time, so I watched all the endings on YouTube. Great stuff. I love that EDI and Joker get off of the ship to end the video (non-extended). It's the perfect metaphor for what happened if you choose synthesis. They're stll together in the "control" ending, but only then because they're a couple. Darkly, EDI does NOT get off in the one where you destroy all tech.

.

how do you call that good writing? the Green ending has to be the most insulting ending of the "3 different, but same ending"..... Press a button, and every living creature just changes to part robot, and every robot becomes half alive? (Do they just grow a dick) talk about ****ing with every living being ever. ultimate Dick move. I guess if you want everyone to have glowing green eyes and its something

Well, I was refering to the whole ending. Mostly the things you talk about with the child, but also throughout the game with people such as The Illusive man. Besides, it was a higher power doing these things.

So, now that you've played through it all, what's your take on the soundtrack? There's a running argument between my friends and I naming either ME2 or ME3 for the best.

I don't recall it. I have weird reactions and memories to soundtracks for movies, and I guess video games. I enjoy the good ones, but I don't remember them. I remember liking the music in the prologue of ME3 when the kid bites it, but that's only because I mentioned it to someone at the time.
