Hunting is a legitimate use of a gun - provided you aren't hunting your own species.
Hunting is also an enjoyable sport, and I hope the people who do it use most of the carcass they kill. It's more than 'a couple of guys' and just one of them accounts for 20 dead bodies - meh a few dead bodies here and there, right? Would you like to be one of them? I wouldn't. If you need more than six shots in a hurry - buy two guns Why do you want 100 bullets loaded and ready to go? Trucks are also used for moving to another apartment, carrying oversize objects and other things no matter where you live. And if I'm not mistaken, cost less than full sized vans (not sure though) As for donating money - some people are not as generous as you. But Houses don't kill people as frequently as bullets do. So figuring out what qualifies under a ban is difficult - but we can start with the number of shots per cartridge that's easy. NY just banned anything over 7 rounds. I think 10 works best, but 30 or 100 no way.

The cartridge thing I can swallow easier than banning a type of gun that you can currently purchase legally, however it doesn't necessarily make the weapons any less dangerous. After all anybody with moderate experience with a firearm can reload a magazine in around 4 or 5 seconds no sweat.

That brings up another thing I would like to see - mandatory firearms safety courses.
I think novice and expert gun pwners could benefit from that - that is for everyone's protection, accidents happen, but I'd still like to know that everyone who owns a gun can safely use, clean, and store it. And recent news has assured that there will be lots of people who legally own their current guns even though they've been banned - they're usually grandfathered in, and anyone who rushes out right now can own one - so they've been flying off the shelves.

That's where we can find common ground. Things like background checks and safety courses should be supported by everybody. They would provide education that even a lot of gun owners don't have and help keep guns out of the hands of mentally ill people or convicted felons.

Right, that's the other half of the equation - mental health care changes, and implementing a national database that is more complete for background checks.
How are you on secondary transactions of guns? I think that one of the recommendations the Biden group suggested is getting all gun transactions on record - I think we should - every time you sell a car you transfer a title, right? The idea that someone in Arizona can get on the internet and go to what is basically a Craig's List for guns and get in contact with someone - meet them in a parking lot - and buy something like a .50 caliber sniper rifle (which can bring down a helicopter or pierce tank armor) without any background check or paperwork to make the sale - and it is perfectly legal as the laws in Arizona stand. That really gets me. And that's why we can't leave it up to each state in my opinion (although Senator Leahy says it should be state by state) It just seems that someone in a state with harsh laws could go to a less harsh state and buy what they wanted and then transport those things back to the first state. I do think they sort of address that question with a recommendation for harsher penalties for transporting guns around. Still, with the crazy people out there I bet they don't care.

Another shooting at an Atlanta Middle School
2 shot - one student has a neck wound and a teacher was also injured. Both are still alive - the school is on lockdown and the shooter (thought to be another student) may already be in custody A day or two ago someone boarded a bus and shot the driver dead as he demanded two children - he took one hostage a five year old boy, and has been holding up in a home made bunker for a day or two. the kid has been allowed medicine for a condition he has but is still held hostage in a stand off in it's third day The man was said to be a odd in his demeanor recently before the incident

While better gun control is needed, I really think at this point the media is just highlighting just any and all shootings that's taking place around the country. I say this because, aside from the obvious mass shootings, normal shootings take place on a regular basis every day in this country and the media never bothers to report on them. But now that the issue is out there, it seems like the media is really doing their hardest to find anything they can regarding gun violence.

It kind of works that way huh?
But the hostage thing is quite unusual - I think the guy has been noted as being an ornery loner survivalist (thus the fully stocked underground bunker) I think he was supposed to appear in court for some misdemeanor and that's what set him off - because as we all know [sarcasm] murder and kidnapping is a better reason to go to court than some stupid misdemeanor [/sarcasm]
