I don't care how or why The Avengers aren't helping. They disbanded at the end of Avengers plus they've said they cover that.

I want to know more about this shot from the trailer. I'll put it in spoiler tags incase people are avoiding the trailer or are yet to watch it.

I imagine Thor is busy saving the Nine Realms from Malekith.
Captain America and Black Widow are trying to prevent the Winter Soldier from doing something unpleasant.
Banner is good if you need something smashed without too much concern over collateral damage because the threat is even more destructive than The Hulk. Terrorists who plant bombs on Air Force One aren't his speed.
Hawkeye is waiting around for a threat to show up that's vulnerable to arrows and will stay in one place long enough for him to arrive and shot them. If you need someone to deal with the cannon fodder, he's your guy. If the threat you're facing calls for an army of Iron Man suits being run by Jarvis, Clint is not who you call.

Considering the history of Superman on film, it's the natural reaction. Iron Man 3 is coming off the magnificent high of The Avengers, while Man of Steel has to make up for the letdown of Superman Returns, which was supposed to make up for the letdown of Superman: The Quest for Peace, which was supposed to make up for the letdown of Superman III.

I think Hogan at least gets seriously injured or something. There's a shot of him in the teaser trailer lying amidst what looks like the wreckage of a bomb blast.
