"Days of Future Past" introduced the idea of an alternate future for Marvel's mutants that grew out of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants killing an important senator, leading to a future where all mutants are hunted by Sentinels.

The film's confirmed cast includes Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, and Peter Dinklage.

Singer's Kitty Pryde wasn't much of a character to speak of. I don't think he even bothered to cast the same actress in the role from X-Men to X2. Since Kitty is a pivotal character in the Days of Future Past storyline, it makes sense to cast someone with some genuine acting chops. Since Ratner accidentally cast an up and coming actress in the role of Pryde in X3, it's logical to keep her.

I don't think the average person realized Kitty Pryde is in the first two movies. To them, Ellen Page is the only one to play the role. So it makes sense to keep her.

So at this rate I expect Magneto's prison guard to be announced as a returning character. Seriously not coming back?

If they make another xMen movie is it going to be all Singer's cast and none of Vaughn? One or two returning cast members was going to be a cool nod to the fans to show it's still the same univers. All of them coming back (plus what he's said about fixing mistakes from Last Stand) almost sounds like Singer really hates all the xMen movies that weren't his.

What I don't understand is why they HAVEN'T tried to bring him back. He was such a popular character, and arguably the best part of the second film. It makes me wonder if they had problems working with him. He wanted to come back for the third and they didn't ask him. He said at the time he wanted to do it (and thought he was until he was told he wasn't in the script).

From his interview today, he sounded interested yet again, but was never asked and now his current scheduling would conflict anyway.

Curious why McAvoy thought he was. Unless this was suppose to be a secret and Cumming is trying to cover it up.

Alan Cumming hated working on X2. Halle Berry and him were the two castmembers to badmouth the movie and Bryan Singer. He only wants to return now cause his career hasn't made much progress. The same applies to Berry.

I don't remember him ever badmouthing the movie. He didn't like working with Bryan Singer, which was probably why he had a greater interest in returning for the third with Singer gone, but again, the studio never asked him. Which makes me figure there was probably more than just him not seeing eye-to-eye with Singer, and the studio probably didn't want him back either.
