season 2 is on pre order for 35 bucks on amazon. wonder if i should grab it or not... haven't really watched the first season i own on blu ray.

Blu-Ray? If so, that's a pretty decent deal. I haven't seen my season 1 set yet either, but once I get 2 in the mail, I'm planning a marathon to catch up for season 3. I want to re-watch the first season again because it's been a while, so I decided to wait and just watch both.

well now best buy will price match but have the 'exclusive covers'... which are somewhat tempting... must say the greyjoy looks great. but i didn't really enjoy the season as a whole though... at least not as much as season 1.

Just finished re-watching Season 2 recently and, while I still had problems with certain changes (Jaime being a kinslayer), I enjoyed it a lot more this time. I suppose, with one episode per week, I was able to take each episode apart and scrutinize everything. Watching it back to back allowed me to just sit back and enjoy the season for what it is. Season 1's still stronger, but Season 2 wasn't all bad.

I did a Wire marathon a few weeks ago and plan on re-watching GOT 1 and 2 before 3 starts.

I've got one episode to go before I've finished my Game of Thrones marathon. I had planned one, maybe two, a weekend but before I knew it I was watching one or two a day so it finished too early really.

Rewatching season 2 now. The Blu looks super sharp, just like the first season did.

Some characters I've noticed that they really dropped the ball on:
Theon Greyjoy
Renly Baratheon
Littlefinger
The new casting of The Mountain

I like pretty much everyone else however.

My favorite part of book three was definitely the trial by combat!
That might not make this year though if they're breaking it up into two seasons.

IMO- this is the best book of the series.

I totally agree. I watched the first 9 episodes today and it was wonderful.

I agree with both of you. It is a lot better without the encumbrances of book-based disappointments. There were certainly some missteps, like that awful Joffrey torturing women scene and the Jaime escape attempt, but overall pretty solid.

And I think it helped me get past the idea of book expectations. Therefore, I am exceedingly excited for the new season.

Weeeell, I still haven't gotten to episode 10 where I'm sure I'm still going to be pissed off they screwed up the scene with Qhorin and Jon.
