What could be better than a raccoon at night shuffling off to Buffalo?

Actually, the TARDIS change helps to show just how long he's been living up in that cloud all alone. He's had time to completely redecorate his TARDIS. But yeah, I'm sure they'll definitely go into detail about the change. Moffat said he wants to explore it more.

I liked the big glass thing in the middle better than the neon lights. Everything else I'm fine with.

Not a huge fan of the new TARDIS interior. It feels a little old school. I do like Clara Oswin Oswald a lot though. I'm excited for her.

The new Tardis reminds me of Star Trek... a bit

I know what you mean, I kind of liked the "old style brass works" - it reminded me of a Jules Verne story, but this design does give them a lot more acting space in which to do things.

Part of the 50th Anniversary celebration is going to include a TV movie called An Adventure in Space and Time. It will be about the creation of Doctor Who, and will star David Bradley (aka: Mr. Filch from the Harry Potter movies) as William Hartnell. This is excellent casting news IMHO. He looks far more like the First Doctor than the guy who substituted for him in The Five Doctors for the 20th Anniversary special.

You forgot to say Dr Who and Sherlock writer Mark Gatiss is writing An Adventure in Space and Time. He'll probably give himself a small role too.

This should be good.

I've never seen the Original series from the 60's and beyond... It's sitting in my Netflix queue... Is it worth watching after I've seen the reboot?

To me it was - I was watching those in the 70's so I thought why not watch them all?

It depends upon how deep you are into Doctor Who. But if you want to see where it came from then yeah.

Douglas Adams wrote a few interesting stories for the series
You can find most of it online at dailymotion for free - whatever exists of the original series is there

For a fan of the current series of Doctor Who to watch the classic one, they really need to know what to expect, and keep certain things in mind.

For starters, the original series never enjoyed the lavish budget of the current one. The program was always done on a shoestring, even at the height of it's popularity. You have to look past the lackluster visual FX and allow yourself to be lost in the story. Not everyone can do this.

A number of things about The Doctor which most new fans take as read were not always the case. The First Doctor often had a sinister edge to him, giving him a mad scientist vibe. The Second Doctor was very friendly and hated computers. The Third Doctor didn't hesitate to assault someone if the need arose. At one point, he even modified his sonic screwdriver into a weapon. The Fourth Doctor set the standard which is followed today. The Fifth was in the same vein, although he didn't use a sonic screwdriver. The Sixth is a mess. His character is unlikeable and the stories he appeared in were poorly written. It was during this period that the head of the BBC began taking active measures to sabotage the program in order to have an excuse to cancel it, and it shows. The Seventh Doctor was an improvement, but the stories were still poorly written (except for Remembrance of the Daleks, which is excellent) and were heavily geared towards young children.

When it comes to what's available on Netflix, I recommend that you try City of Death. It's a fantastic story featuring the Fourth Doctor in all his glory, and written primarily by Douglas Adams (of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy fame). The villain is played by Julian Glover (from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade) and has a cameo by John Cleese. It's also the first Doctor Who story to ever go overseas (or in this case undersea, since they used the new chunnel) to film. It's one of the best episodes of the classic era. If you can't enjoy it, you won't be able to do so for the rest.

Well, the 3D is notable I suppose, but I don't really care. I'm far more interested in who is going to appear in it, who is writing it and what it's about. This will be the first anniversary special that is being given a budget which will allow the producers to make a truly spectacular special. The history of Doctor Who anniversary specials isn't a very distinguished one. I'm hoping that the 50th will set a new standard. It certainly couldn't be any worse than the 25th anniversary special- The Silver Nemesis.

I'm sooo glad they finally updated the look of the Cybermen. The classic series always tried to update them a bit with each new story. The new design actually has even more changes than I really expected. I would have been happy with just a new chest plate and head, but they went and changed the arms as well. We can't see the legs, so we'll have to wait on that account.

Actually, from the stories, the Cybermen in the old series were different each time, because they were from an alternate earth (Mondas) and some from Pete's World. And then thee were those ones of unknown origin found in the arctic. The ones that almost converted that guy in the store were from a "ship frozen for Centuries" according to The 11th Doctor

Yeah, the history of the Cybermen was already a bit of a mess in the Classic series, and the new one with their Cybus Industries alternate universe Cybermen muddied the waters even more. There's a Doctor Who audio adventure from Big Finish (Spare Parts, I think) where The Doctor asks one of the Cybermen if he's from Mondas or Telos. Naturally, the Cyberman doesn't provide a helpful answer.

The BBC has officially announced that the classic series villains The Ice Warriors will be returning in the upcoming episodes of series seven. I'm curious as to how they will be portrayed in the new series. I expect they will get a pretty serious redesign of their armor, which is fine.

It may have been rumored months ago, but rumors about classic Doctor Who villains returning are always being bounced around and they usually turn out to be bogus. This is an official announcement.
