Star Trek 2 could be the biggest pile of manure and it'll still be one of the highest grossing movies of the year.

True for my sister who was a die hard Trek fan simply hated the Star Trek movie. Most fans did not like Spock hooking up with Uhura.

Is there really a big rivalry between the franchises, beyond the wild ramblings of uber-nerds?

I personally think there is no law that says he cannot make 2 trilogies out of Star Wars and Star Trek. Its just Uber Geek fans make it more a war. To me Star Trek came first but I don't see where Lucas ripped anything Roddenberry in Star Wars. I like both very much and also think the only simular things is Star In The title and Maybe Warp Speed vs Hyper Space Travel.

Cast for what roles? It's too early for that question.

J.J. Abrams is producing a movie about Lance Armstrong. Bradley Cooper is in talks for the role. I bet they're also discussing Star Wars.

If I was a betting man (which I am), I'd say the safe money would be on Cooper playing the son of Yoda.

Wow spoiler tags on a name from a movie that hasn't even been cast.

That's some hardcore speculation right there I think I may be spoiled

I think we will learn in Star Wars VII that Yoda was gay.

More likely Obi Wan. Yoda likely in his youth has allot of babies running around.

As long as they don't cast Paul Walker or Ice Cube for anything - we're good.

I have greater faith in Abrams than that. That was a set from the prequels.

Considering the extensive use of actual sets and location shoots done on Star Trek, I'm not worried. JJ isn't going to fall into that trap. Besides, he has people who work for him who won't be shy about telling him the truth.

I'm just glad that JJ isn't writing the screenplay. If he were, a big, floating red ball that would destroy the universe would inevitably become a major plot point.

I think they should have a tragic thing happen. In the books Chewbacca dies saving Hans youngest child Anakin Solo. I think a real death of a beloved original character would be a good emotional step.

Didn't Chewbacca get crushed by a planet or moon?

That's no moon... it's a space station!
