Spielberg + telephone call to Lucas = JJ directs Star Wars

Lucas is out of the picture. He had nothing to do with the decision. Not like Spielberg had to talk him into it. This was Kathleen Kennedy's decision and thank goodness they got a fan on board to direct who will hopefully revive this series and make make us all forget the prequels.

i Suppose there is no law that says JJ can't do Star Wars and Star Trek. Star Trek 3 would likely take place after Star Wars 6.

Well you never know. There is still a spielberg connection here so I would not rule out a conversation or two between old friends about JJ taking up the job. Not saying this was a bad decision...

As long as he doesn't convince the studio to bring in Orci and Kurtzman to do rewrites, there's hope here. JJ doesn't know how to do his own minor rewrites or put in his own input on a script/dialogue. So if the script sucks, then that's that. If someone(s) other than his nincompoop duo are writing, then it might be fine. JJ's direction is good for the most part. He just needs competent writing to back it up.

Allot of help here to JJ is likely the writer who wrote the original with Lucas is around and there is better writers maybe and maybe Disney and Lucasfilm said these are the writers and if take the cash then thats who we are using.

If anyone has wondered why there hasn't been an official confirmation, the answer is simple, Paramount is pissed. They just announced that, despite Abrams' franchise hopping, he will remain as producer for the Star Trek AND Mission Impossible series. So they want to squeeze more out of Abrams before he joins the Disney family.

I know everyone is ass-kissing Lucas right now, but I really want to know what Abrams truly thinks of the prequels. I pray he thought they sucked liked the rest of us and wants to get Star Wars back to it's glory days of the original trilogy.

Love JJ or not, we can at least be certain that "Episode VII" will be better than the Prequels. It just HAS to be.

Really I don't see where its Paramount business what Abrams does when not doing there projects. Iconic directors every day do many different movies from other movie studios. As long as he is committed to each project and they are good who really cares if they are rival fiction franchises.

I think its totally possible he could direct Star Trek 3. I mean Star Wars 6 is released in 2015. He could easily just even direct 2 films of Star Wars then do Star Trek 3. If Paramount wants to keep Star Trek good I'd do it however Abrams would want it.

I have A New Hope that Star Wars will be treated with respect to the original trilogy and brought back to it's glory once again. One thing I truly have appreciated about Abrams' films is his choice in actors. He would never have cast a Hayden Christensen I don't believe. I think he understands the weight on his shoulders with this one.

Shoot The Kid who played Edward Cullen would have been better then Christensen. I wonder if Nimoy would do a cameo role as an Alien or Jedi. JJ seemed to really like Nimoy and could be a way to aggrivate Paramount.

I am sure they told allot of things to Tom Cruise as well but didn't they still more or less get a divorce. Paramount lost there Marvel Cash cow to Disney and If Disney buys Hasbro could see a big shake up in Transformers. Star Trek is there best property and sure they want to keep JJ abrams in creative ways at least but also they have been at war with Star Wars for years and don't think they will be Happy for JJ.
