Not sure what to think about the Blue Jays possibly picking up Dickie. Looks like the only thing holding up the deal is for Dickie to sign a long-term deal... and apparently he's not too psyched about going to Toronto.

Dickie is pretty old, 38 years, but he's a knuckleballer so he should age well and stay healthy. Plus Toronto has had a pathetically bad team for so long now, close to two decades of apathetic play. The Jays have consistently been a .500 team for way too long and I'm actually glad that they dropped some prospects for a player of Dickie's caliber. Who's to say that d'Arnaud will turn into a stud baseball player?

Most teams are looking to build from within, they went completely the opposite direction in shipping their entire future for the team they have this year, nothing against them, but like the angels they will age very quickly very soon, but they traded away their Mike trout.

Sure he might not be that good, but a 38 year old knuckleballer? Id take the catcher/first baseman any day.

Yeah great trade for the Mets. Dickey is great but hes old and theres nothing as unpredictable as a knuckleball.

I'm actually with the baseball writers/voters on this one, but I've been in this debate too many times to get in to it again. The Hall of Fame is whatever people want it to be -- whether a place in the Hall really means "greatness" -- so who really cares what they/the voters think? If people view The Rocket and Bonds as worthy of the Hall, then it doesn't really matter whether they're in or not.

Personally, I hope the Hall is always barred to guys like Bonds/Clemons/A-Rod/McGwire/Sosa, etc., but I'm a bit of a purist. Whatever. I think it'd be bull**** though if Bonds got in and Pete Rose was left in the cold for the rest of time.

I'm going to Brewers On Deck tomorrow. I hope to get a few more autographs for my collection. Players like Ryan Braun have to be done by raffle, so I'm crossing my fingers. Otherwise I'll probably just get John Axford's autograph.
