quit generalizing everyone's hatred, you do this for every movie you think is good and others think is bad. people didn't like im2 because it wasn't a good movie. that said, the first one really isn't that good either but rdj carries it easily.

Yes... but there's a reason WHY people think it's bad. Unless you're lacking brain cells, no one says something is bad without backing it up with an opinion. Go and read the Iron Man 2 review thread. Everyone explains why they disliked it and most of it has to do with all The Avengers sub-plots.

Me personally it was that Robert Downey Jr's Tony Stark was incredibly annoying in Iron Man 2, where in Iron Man 1 he came across like a like able *******, he was down right annoying in Iron man 2, and literally every time him and Pepper Potts talked it lead to a 2 minute long annoying argument, basically everything that i loved about the first Iron Man was gone in Iron Man 2, far and away one of the most dissapointing comic movies i have seen.

I also was pretty disappointed with the villains, which had great potential and good actors behind them.

I don't remember anyone complaining about avengers subplots, the problem was the writing. Terribly shallow simplistic villains, ridiculous melodrama and just an overall anticlimactic finale.

I for one, don't hate Iron Man 2. I like it. It's nowhere near as good as the first Iron Man, but it was far better than many other sequels. They can't all be The Empire Strikes Back or Wrath of Khan.

The villains were affected by The Avengers set-up. As soon as Whiplash is EASILY defeated at the race tracks, the movie switches gear and starts focusing on Nick Fury, Black Widow, SHIELD, and Tony Stark getting his s--t together after his drunk party/brawl with Rhodie.

i actually liked Rockwell's Justin Hammer , but the movie was way to cluttered and i agree , the avengers subplot affected potential great villains in rockwell's hammer and rourkes whiplash

Iron Man 2 had a lot of problems, one of which was he infusion of too much avengers set up. But it wasn't the only think. The dialogue was both poorly written and delivered, and the plot was a pretty big mess (Re: the Iron Man/War Machine fight).

Meh... is giving this poster too much credit. That Iron Patriot paint scheme just looks awful. It looked stupid in the comics, and it looks even more absurd in real life. They should have stuck with the War Machine look.

He should have been kept in the War Machine suit. Iron Patriot is Norman Osborne, not Brody.

Iron Patriot in the movie universe is basically a modern day robotic WW2 Captain America. Both are fighting for the military in a suit made from the Star-Spangled Banner.
So since Cap has thawed out why do they need Iron Patriot and what was wrong with War Machine? |

War Machine is clearly too bulky. Iron Patriot is an attempt to be sleeker like Iron Man.

I liked the bulk of War Machine. The more weapons the better!

Wasn't the bulk of War Machine the point? The military stole the vanilla Mark II suit and they aren't as good as Stark when it comes to working on it. That makes War Machine bulky and more tank like and still not as good or as strong and Iron Man's Ferrari suit.
Iron Patriot looks too much like a recoloured Iron Man as if Stark helped them with it. And that is something he said he wouldn't do in Iron Man 2. Unless Iron Patriot turns out to be a third act deus ex machina that Stark has made to have help taking on The Ten Rings/The Mandarin I don't think I'll ever like it. Hell I don't think I'll ever like the paint work. |
