That's because most threads don't seem to invite interesting-enough debates and such. A lot of them seem to be pretty basic.

Nah. People just don't put effort into it anymore. In the old days you could create a thread about anything and get at least 2 pages worth of discussion. Nowadays we have to compete with social media and the comments section in the news feed. Not to mention that SHH's movie, TV, sports, and political forums have gotten increasingly popular over the years. Members here just aren't as motivated as they used to be when there's so many other outlets.
