For a Good Time, Call...
  Back in July, I saw a trailer for this movie during a screening of Seth MacFarlane's Ted. I had never heard of it before, but it looked interesting enough that I decided to look it up at IMDb. That's when I discovered that it starred Seth Rogen's wife, Lauren Miller, and she also co-wrote the script and produced the film. As a Rogen fan, my curiosity was piqued and I knew that sooner or later I would end up watching the movie. It's like when I learned that Kevin Smith's wife did a spread for Playboy. I just had to check it out. For a Good Time is about two roommates who go broke and start a phone sex line. If that premise sounds vaguely familiar that's because it's similar to the plotline in Kevin Smith's Zack and Miri which starred Seth Rogen. But to give Lauren Miller some credit, For a Good Time is more charming and down-to-Earth than Zack and Miri. Although, it's for that very reason why some people don't like it. If you're watching a movie about two young girls starting a phone sex line you'd expect an outrageous sex comedy. Instead, it's an Indie comedy about friendship. In some ways it reminds me of Sex Drive. That one was about a guy wanting to meet a hot girl he met over the Internet. And instead of being a cynical comedy it was a sweet road trip film. My point is, don't come in expecting a laugh riot with loads of sex and nudity. It's a borderline chick flick with some heavy lesbian overtones. That being said, there are some truly standout moments. As expected, Seth Rogen has a cameo as one of the clients and it's hilarious. It's easily one of my favorite comedic scenes from a 2012 release. Kevin Smith also has a cameo as a client and his scene is funny as well. Even if you're not interested in watching this movie, I highly recommend watching their scenes.

I've seen the trailer for this so many times but I never seem to remember it. I always ask my self, "What kinda movie is this going to be" and then watch the trailer again.
