That pretty much defines what it means to be overrated, except that I don't hate it at all.

I kind of feel the same way but I only saw it once and it was a long time ago. I remember enjoying it but not as much as my cousin hyped it up.

Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2 were basically the same concept, except in #1 the evil was old Native American incantations. In #2 it was the Necronomicon.(With better camera work and time travel)

Red band trailer:

VIDEO-CLick to Watch!:

Wasn't aware of Jane Levy when the first trailer came out, but now that I've seen Suburgatory, it should be interesting watching her in this.

i'm gonna skip the red band, the original trailer already sold me on seeing it, and i felt that one showed a little too much.

You gotta watch the redband. It has a greater Evil Dead feel to it.

I agree with Franklin. Too many spoilers are being revealed in trailers these days, I'm surprised people still want to watch them.

Holy crap! I think I need to rewatch the original. I don't remember liking it as much as people said I would. This, however, looks absolutely brutal.

The original Evil Dead is my least favorite of the trilogy. But that's because it's so low-budget everything comes across as cheesy. Sam Raimi made the right approach with the sequels by embracing that element of it.

Evil Dead with a budget. This is everything the original tried to be. This could be one of the very few remakes that's superior to the original.

I must be too sensitive or something, because that was pretty depraved.

It looks wonderfully depraved and deliciously gory, but as for scary? I'm not so sure.

I'd be inclined to agree. It really doesn't look scary at all.

This actually looks like it may be a "horror" movie that fits the genre.

Wow, that trailer was quite awesome. Miss seeing Bruce being the one in the action, but ah well. People forget that the original film was humorous really only in dark situations, and the series didn't get "silly" until the second film. I'm glad they're really focusing on the horror here, looks surprisingly good.

First time feature film director Fede Alvarez is taking a much darker tone with the remake. There is no official "Ash" character, and Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert and Bruce Campbell are making sure that the film doesn't go off the rails in a way that the fans don't want to see.
Quote:
Cast member Lou Taylor Pucci weighed in on his thoughts about what fans of the original will think of the remake. “I think, as far as fans of the original film, half of them are going to love it and half of them are going to hate it, so they are going to talk about it. It takes some of the best things from the old film and brings some totally new ideas. You don’t care anything about those original characters at all. Some people love that you don’t and some people would rather follow an actual story. That’s what this is. It’s got something for the original audience and something for a new audience.”

Got an NC-17 but will be released with an R-rated cut:

I'm wondering which scenes had to be cut. It makes me pretty excited for the BluRay release of the movie so I can see it unedited.
